Danish-Estonian Chamber of Commerce

a non-profit organization established in 2007. The purpose of the organization is to support economic relations between Denmark and Estonia, facilitate networking and  keep the members up to date with relevant news.

Beginning of the year news

Last year we started our year with a reception in the embassy where we introduced the services provided by the Danish Embassy in Estonia and by the Danish-Estonian Chamber of Commerce, we were talking about what kind of help could be found from Estonia and in which cases help needs to be required from Denmark.
This year we start with a seminar on export where the speakers will give you an idea how to start pursuing your idea towards exporting your products or services esp to Denmark. The event is the first one in the series this year, where we talk further about Danish market. Keep yourself updated with the news.

Good news is that we still have a few a few places left for the seminar-reception coming up in the Danish Embassy on Wednesday this week. The sad news is that today is the last day to register. Better hurry and sign up now!

Recent news from Copenhagen Post:

- No student grants for foreigners the parties propose. Last year, the state spent 318 million kroner on grants for 7,115 non-Danes. The cost of student grants for foreign nationals has more than doubled over the past 10 years, according to a summary from the agency that manages the programme. According to the proposal put forth by the Liberal Party, foreigners studing in Denmark will no longer qualify for the states student grant.

- Starting on January 1, foreigners seeking residence must pay for their application forms thousands of kroner. Critics have voiced their concerns, arguing that the fee will turn professionals away from Denmark and lead to them instead consider other countries where the fees are lower or non-existent.

- Local authorities have been given the go-ahead to use digital electoral registers in a general election, and so far 29 of the country's 98 local councils have decided to make use of digital aids for the forthcoming general election.

- Danish food ingredient and enzyme giant Danisco this week received a 36 billion kroner takeover bid from US-based chemical producer DuPont. While this is one of the biggest business deals in Danish history, it looks like 2011 will see several other such acquisitions by international companies. Numerous renowned Danish companies could be bought up by big multinational companies. Bankers have named Danish giants such as Vestas, NKT, Topdanmark and B&O have been named as possible targets.
