Regional workshop rallies forest managers around climate change adaptation in the Northwoods
NIACS and co-organized the March workshop Climate Change Adaptation in the Northwoods: Information, Tools, and Collaboration. The goal of the event was to connect a diverse audience from the 3-state area of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. The 80+ attendees represented a wide cross-section of the forestry community, including tribes, state agencies, National Forests, private landowners, trusts, and professional foresters, along with academic and agency researchers. Workshop sessions focused on on-going adaptation projects, tools for land managers, and applying lessons learned from existing partnerships and collaborations to the challenge of climate change. The workshop was funded in part by the Kresge Foundation and the USFS Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry. To learn more please contact Maria Janowiak or Stephen Handler.
