Chism Trails - Main Plaza Structures Vying for Int'l Award

This month Chism entered the Main Plaza Fabric Structures for an International Achievement Award through the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI). For over 60 years, IFAI has recognized technological innovation and excellence in the specialty fabrics industry.

The colorful fabric structures (pictured above and below) serve as lightweight shading devices during outdoor, musical events for Main Plaza.

At the heart of city, the Main Plaza Conservancy envisioned the fabric structures as a vital piece of a re-development focused on the vibrant culture, colors and language of San Antonio, while serving as a simple shade solution.

The Chism Company was selected for the project based on performance in fabric shade structures over the last 22 years. In 1988, Chism won the IFAI Outstanding Achievement Award for the Sea World of Texas tension structure. Additionally, UTSA School of Architecture and Chism Company were co-recipients of an achievement award in 1996.
