Engineering Power!
Established on a foundation of Tooling and Engineering excellence, Ironwood Plastics remains an Engineering powerhouse.
Our New Product
Introduction (NPI) process is straightforward, but complex to complete. The team leading this process has three goals:
- True production readiness within three production runs.
- 100% on time delivery
- Meet the tooling budget
The NPI Team is led by a Program Manager. Additional team members include a Project Manager, Quality Engineer, Tooling
Engineer, and Design Engineer. Process Engineering and Automation Engineering
are provided from our Technical Support Team (TST). In upcoming newsletters, we
will examine the main components of a successful project launch:
Mold Flow
Analysis: Using mold flow data to predict shrinkage, warp,
filling, cycle time and other factors.
Tool Design & Build: Whether in-house, local shop or off-shore, the tool build process is the
cornerstone of a successful project.
Rigorous Mold
Tryout:
Using cutting edge scientific molding principles, many pioneered by
RJG to put the mold through the paces to ensure production readiness
and repeatability.
Quality
Package: Whether a PPAP, First Article or IQ/OQ/PQ Qualification, this
is the final product of a successful project. Laser Scanning will be
featured
Production
Readiness: The last and yet, most difficult step: Ensuring the project is truly production ready.
We hope you enjoy the articles.
Our staff is proud of our many successful launches.
