A Message From Our President:
Cynthia Everhart
Dear ,
Happy Holidays! This is the time of year to reflect upon all we have accomplished in 2009. We need to measure our effectiveness, learn from our mistakes and apply, and acknowledge and rejoice our successes. It has been a crazy year with the instability of our economy, our ever changing industry and the relentless feeling of being behind the technology eight ball. AAF Madison has worked hard to help ease those pains.
- We continue to keep a watchful eye on and fight taxation issues that threaten our industry.
- We consistently attract leaders from around the country to speak on topics that affect our industry and teach us how to utilize new technologies and tools of the trade more effectively.
- We build the advertising circle by funding and managing our scholarship programs through the MAF Foundation, Student ADDY scholarships, NSAC and the Don Stoffels Scholarship and supporting our future leaders.
- We develop and manage programs that support diversity through job shadowing and youth mentoring.
- We offer networking and social opportunities such as the golf outing, summer and holiday parties and monthly luncheons.
- We celebrate our work and efforts through the ADDY Awards and the Silver Medal Award.
And so much more... Which reminds me, please continue to bring those $1 dollar bills for the 50/50 Scholarship Raffle presented at all AAF meetings; start preparing your ADDY entries and submissions for drop-off on January 7th & 8th at Adams Outdoor Advertising; be a mentor for the Job Shadow TwentyTen Program scheduled on January 4th - 15th; submit a nomination for the Silver Medal Award, our industries most prestigious award and honor someone who has made a major impact on our industry and communities; and finally, help us finish off the year in AAF-style and join us for a spec-mac-tacular holiday event on December 10th at Samba from 6:00 - 9:00 in conjunction with 5 other organizations for an evening of networking, friendship building, celebrating and rejoicing. Thank you for a fantastic year and I look forward to an even better year in 2010. Cheers! Cynthia Everhart President, AAF Madison |

The 7th Annual Job Shadow Program
January 4-15, 2010
The goal of the Job Shadow Program is to reach out to college students, especially those from diverse backgrounds, and to expose them to a variety of career options in the advertising and communications industries. This program helps many students as they near graduation and are assessing possible career choices. The program is divided into ˝ day sessions over the 2 week program. This gives host companies (and students) more scheduling flexibility. You can choose to host a student(s) for a morning session (8:30-11:30 a.m.), an afternoon session (1:30-4:30 p.m.) or both. We will pair a student with a company in their field of interest. You or a colleague will simply explain and demonstrate to the student what is that you do. If you are interested in mentoring a student(s) during the January 4-15, 2010 timeframe (or know an organization that is)
