Sales Tip - Referrals

Excerpts from The Referral Minute by Bill Cates. When you get a referral - whether you asked for it or not - you want to change it into an introduction. Here are three critical questions you need to be asking:
- "How would you like to introduce me?" E-mail is one of the most efficient methods.
- "What do you think you need to say to him to pique his interest in hearing from me?" Getting your referral source to think about this will help him craft a more effective introduction and give him the confidence to carry it out.
- "When do you think you will be able to speak to him so I will know when to follow up with you both?" Be a little assumptive here, without being aggressive.
