How good are you at closing a sale?  Our monthly Sales Tip below reviews three different closing techniques, and offers over 50 others.  See below for details.
Life Plans

Genworth has replaced their Colony term series with the new Colony TermUL plans.
  • Comes in 10, 15, 20 and 30 year options
  • Premiums guaranteed for the initial level period
  • Technically a UL, but illustrates, looks and smells like term plans with the exception that there is no conversion since it is already a UL plan
  • At the end of the initial level period the policyowner can request a calculation of a higher premium to keep the policy inforce
  • Commissions are the same as the Colony term plans
  • The policy fee is now commissionable

Per our Nov. 20th bulletin, Lincoln National has increased the annual policy fee on term plans from $75 to $125 for all plans with a Policy Date of Dec. 1st or later.  Illustrations you've shared with clients may not have included this increase.  Please contact Jodi if you would like to request a Policy Date prior to Dec. 1st for pending Lincoln cases.

Also, Lincoln will have a price increase for their individual guaranteed UL product for applications rec'd in their H.O. after Dec. 31st.  The current product is one of the best in the marketplace.  Take advantage of it!Jeff

All Return of Premium term plans with all carriers will have a dramatic price increase effective Jan. 1st.  If you have clients considering ROP, get those apps in before the end of the year.  It's a fire-sale.

Deferred Annuities
Some of our most popular traditional fixed annuity plans include:
  • 1 yr rates as high as 1.60%
  • 3 yr rates as high as 2.35%
  • 5 yr rates as high as 3.65%
  • 7 yr rates as high as 3.85%
Please call for product details and to confirm rates as they can change daily.  Please review our Top Picks or use our rate/plan search tool

Income Annuities
A recent study by Wharton School focused on the concept of building ladders of lifetime immediate annuities for a secure retirement.
Highlights:
  • People facing retirement want guaranteed income and liquity.  Purchasing annuities over time makes sense.
  • Annuity ladders reduce the risk of securing all of your retirement income while rates are low.
  • Annuities can replace bonds as the conservative part of a portfolio.  The remaining funds can be invested more aggressively, and your client can stay in those funds longer because the base expenses are covered by the annuity portion of the portfolio.

Please let us know if you would like a copy of the complete Wharton School study.  We'd be happy to forward it to you.

Disability Income

The time is right for Guaranteed Standard Issue D.I. plans.  In an uncertain economy, Guaranteed Standard Issue is a great way for companies to provide their employees with a strong benefit package, yet still control costs:
  • Benefit may be either 100% employer or employee paid
  • Available to all occupation classes
  • Discounted premiums and gender neutral rates
  • Limited financial underwriting...census onlySteve
  • No medical history required

Sales Tip Success

If you are in sales you are familiar with the five steps of the sales process...attention, interest, conviction, desire and close.

How good are you at the last step?  How good are you at closing?

Here are three techniques that might work for you:
  1. The 1-2-3 close.  Summarize in sets of three items.  Example: These houses are better-looking, better-built and better-equipped than those in the other development.  This pattern acts as a set of three hammer-blows that give a compelling message.
  2. The Bracket close.  Make the person three offers with the one you want to buy in the middle.  The first is expensive and beyond their budget, the second is a solid good deal within their price range, and the third is a severely cut-down deal in which very little of what they want or need is included.
  3. The Assumptive close.  Act as if they have already made the decision to buy.  Examples: When shall we deliver it to you?  Will 20 cases be enough?  Or, simply start filling out the application.

For a list of over 50 closing techniques, and detailed information on each, send me an e-mail.  I'll be happy to forward it to you.

Thanks for taking the time to review our Newsletter, and Thank You for your business.
