We have two "upgrade" programs that can help with Standard and rated cases:
Lincoln National will take UL cases rated as high as T-C and move them back to Standard rates.  West Coast will take many Standard UL cases and move them to Preferred if the single factor for the Standard approval was family history, blood pressure, build or cholesterol.  Call for detailed parameters of both "upgrade" programs.
 
Check out these underwriting niches:
  • Lincoln National does not ask about family history of cancer for Preferred or Preferred Best rate classes
  • West Coast will give Preferred Non-Tobacco rates after only 12 months of no tobacco use
  • Genworth does not ask about family history of siblings for their Preferred rate class
  • Pru will give Non-Smoker Plus rates for use of pipe, cigar, dippers or chewing tobacco 

Pru releases new term rates effective Nov. 2nd.  To hold current, lower rates applications must be dated prior to Nov. 2nd and received in the Home Office no later than Dec. 1st.  Call for complete details.

Genworth is replacing their FlexPlus II UL plan with the new GenGuard UL plan.  The new plan retains the popular features of the old, but will have a very slight price increase.  To retain the old product and old rates, applications must be received in Genworth's home office by close of business on Oct. 27th.

Union Central has announced two new enhancements.  (1) 4A non-invasive physicians can now qualify for "own occ" coverage to age 60.  (2) Issue and participation limits for all occ classes have been increased.

Sales Tip Success

Excerpts from Jeffrey Gitomer's Sales Caffeine.

Think about the last time you bought something.  How attuned was the salesperson to your "why"?  Most salespeople make the fatal mistake of "selling" rather than discovering the prospect's motive, reason or desire to buy.
 
"I want my daughter to go to college" is not a motive.  Why you want your daughter to go to college is the trigger.
 
Old world sales tactics, closing techniques and other sales drivel is over.  The internet has replaced the pitch man.  Today's sales people better be question-based, value driven, customer focused and able to prove the value of their product.
 
Now is the time to find out why and where your customer is hurting and try to help them.  Now is the time to keep your customers loyal by providing extra service.  Now is the time to invest in attitude training so your customers can have hope and a better outlook than what is portrayed in the media.
 
Remember...(1) serve your customers beyond their expectations, and (2) help your customers beyond their expectations.   You do both by asking them "why", and you're likely to make a larger sale than by simple order-taking.
