Hop on over to Portage Theatres, 322 W. Wisconsin St., for an Easter treat on Saturday, March 31. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Portage Food Pantry and see the movie 'Hop' for free. Show times are 9:30am and 10:30am. An added bonus, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt following each of the showings!

The Portage Lions Club will hold its annual egg hunt on Saturday, April 7 at 10am. Foil-wrapped chocolate eggs will be scattered on the grounds of Woodridge and John Muir schools. Children are separated by age groups from 1-10 years of age. For more information, call Peter Grimm at 608-742-2590.

Just wanted to send a friendly note to all of you who have worked with Claudia 'The Paint Lady' Vesely currently or in the past...
Claudia is retiring at the end of this month after 34 wonderful years with Portage Lumber! Claudia will be here Friday (March 30) and Saturday this week, Saturday being her last day of work. We will be having cake & refreshments on Saturday and are encouraging any employees, customers & vendors to stop on in and say 'goodbye' to her as well as enjoy some snacks. Claudia will be here from 7am-4pm on Friday and from 7am-5pm on Saturday.
Please feel free to stop on in and chat with her before she goes... I know she'd love to see anyone who can make it!

Portage Lions Club Radio Auction this Saturday! |
The 36th Annual Portage Lions Club Radio Auction is this Saturday, March 31 starting at 12:30pm. Proceeds from this annual fund-raiser are used to support many Lions service projects on the local, state and international levels. Some of the local activities include pre-school vision testing, eye exams, glasses for those in need, and transportation of eye tissue to and from the Eye Bank in Madison. Other projects include scholarships, the annual Easter Egg hunt, donations to the Safety Patrol trip, the High School athletic fund, Santa's Workshop, and many others.

Friesland Men's Choir to perform

The Friesland Men's Choir performs at St. John's Lutheran Church, 850 Armstrong St., at 7:30pm on Saturday, May 5. This is a free will donation event with the proceeds going to the Pregnancy Resource Center. The PRC provides pregnancy testing, supportive counseling, a library and educational materials, infant clothing and bedding as well as supplies for mama and baby after the birth. Eulberg to guide summer walking tours again

Local historian Judy Eulberg will again lead the Historic Downtown Walking Tours this summer. The one-hour tours will depart from the Chamber office, 104 W. Cook St., at 10am. The tours are free to the public and will be held on the first and third Saturdays of the month, June through August.
We are happy to have Judy back as a guide and look forward to another great season of enlightening locals and visitors alike with the history of our downtown. |

General Engineering Company turns 100 years |
Celebrate a prestigious time as General Engineering Company turns 100! Join them in thanking the community for their business over the past century on Tuesday, May 8. An Open House will begin at 2pm leading into Business After 5 from 5pm until 7pm at GEC, 916 Silver Lake Drive, in Portage.
They will be giving away door prizes from 2pm until 7pm, as well as a grand prize--a one-night stay in Wisconsin Dells! There will be refreshments, appetizers, and cake. Many vintage-framed photographs will be on display that range from the early 1900's until now, as well as many historical archived items. People can tour the office, as well as watch featured slide shows of GEC.
