Greetings!
As we are nearing the dog days of summer, don't let your marketing programs lag until the third quarter. After a hectic first and second quarter many companies have a tendency to sit back and take it easy during the summer months. They rationalize that their customers are on vacation, not purchasing their products, not reading magazines, or not attending trade shows. But, if you really examined your target market, I think you would find that your customers are very active even during the summer months especially if you are marketing B2B. Read on to find out some tips to re-energize your marketing efforts during the next few months.
Summertime Fun
How to Take Advantage of the Slower Pace

Take advantage of the slower pace this summer and get ready for the Fall marketing blitz.
Summer Scene
Are you taking a bit of a respite this month? You've been busy with all of your marketing activities the past five months, diligently attending trade shows, producing new literature for a product launch, updating your advertising campaigns, and the like. So, you deserve a bit of a rest, don't you? Well, take advantage of the slower pace to really evaluate your marketing efforts the past few months and get ready for the next marketing blitz in the Fall. Now is a good time to do some organizational work or do a bit of office cleaning. It's also a good time to do some planning and strategizing before the third quarter budgeting and planning meetings begin. Here are a few things you can do this summer that will help make the remainder of the year go more smoothly.
  • Take an inventory of your current literature. Should you reprint, update, or obsolete any of the literature your sales reps are using? Now is a perfect time to review your current literature needs and take action.
  • Now may be a good time to refurbish your exhibit booth. Examine it carefully and see if it is in need of any repairs. Better to have the exhibit booth ready for those Fall shows than have to clamor to make any last minute updates. Also ensure your booth graphics are up to date and that they reflect your current corporate image and product information.
  • Review your website. Of course, I'm sure you are keeping your website up-to-date regularly, but now would be a good time to take a good look at the flow of your navigation, update or delete content, check the links to ensure everything is in proper working order, or add a few new widgets. Make a wish list of new items you would like to include in the next major update of your website so that when budgeting time comes around in the Fall you'll be ready to make your proposal to management.
  • Start social networking. If you haven't gotten involved in this phenomenon, do a bit of research, open an account on a few sites like Twitter or Facebook and get comfortable with tweeting. Then by next quarter you will be the company expert and will be able to start developing a social networking strategy when you start planning for next year.
