Satellite Testing
DSHR volunteers tested
the disaster communication satellite this past month. To ensure it's operating properly volunteers test it once a month, and twice a month during hurricane season.

Veteran History Project
VISTA volunteers at the chapter need volunteers willing to help with the Veteran History Project. Volunteers can ether conduct interviews with veterans, or if you are a veteran yourself, contact your VISTA volunteers to make an appointment so we can hear/ document your story, at 887-9991.

This event honors those who answer the "Call of Duty" in our armed forces and medical community. The military-inspired event transforms our venue into a re-creation of a military medical unit, complete with camouflage, jeep, para-chutes, "The Swamp" more.

Penny Power 2010 Results
The Penny Power Challenge 2010 October 1-22 ended with great success. We are proud to announce Rockport Fulton High School as the Penny Power Challenge 2010 winner. Amanda Edmonds (from left, 2nd from the front row) was the campaign coordinator for the school and won an iPad touch for coordinating The Penny Power Challenge at the school. Congratulations!
Next Penny Power Challenge will be February 1-15, 2011 for all public and private elementary schools.

Holiday Mail for Heroes
The Coastal Bend-Texas Chapter participated in Holiday Mail for Heroes Campaign. This is a nation wide campaign to send holiday cards to thank members of the armed forces during the holidays. This years local card donors were: Coastal Plains MHMR in Portland, United Methodist Church, and St Anthony Fellowship in Robstown. With our local donors and the distribution from Pitney Bowes we are able to collect 4,000 Holiday Cards. Thank you for participated this year.
