TSA Pre-Check Program for United Airlines Passengers Begins at O'Hare

Jeff Ulrich, United Airlines Senior Manager of Emerging Technology, explains the TSA Pre-Check program to a traveler at O'Hare.
CHICAGO, June 27, 2012 -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has expanded its successful Pre-Check program at O'Hare International Airport for United Airlines passengers. Pre-Check is a pre-screening process for select frequent flyers who, if accepted into the Pre-Check program, can move quickly through a designated security checkpoint lane without having to remove their shoes and light outerwear, or remove laptops from computer bags.

United is the second airline at O'Hare to offer the Pre-Check Program. In March 2012, American Airlines became the first at O'Hare to participate in the program.

The Pre-Check lane in Terminal 1 at O'Hare is located at the security checkpoint near Door 1F on the upper level ticketing area.

The announcement was made today at a news conference in Terminal 1 by TSA Associate Administrator Doug Hoffsass and TSA Deputy Federal Security Director at O'Hare David Kane. Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) First Deputy Commissioner Michael Boland also spoke at the news conference. Boland thanked the TSA for continuing to extend the program to O'Hare. Pre-Check meets three of the CDA's most important priorities for air travelers - safety, security and an enhanced customer experience at the airport.

A traveler participating in the TSA Pre-Check program at O'Hare's Terminal 1 goes through a security checkpoint without taking off his shoes.
The Pre-Check program is also automatically available to members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Global Entry program. O'Hare has 10 Global Entry kiosks in International Terminal 5 to expedite processing for members returning to the U.S.

Additional airline carriers at O'Hare are expected to join the Pre-Check program in the near future.
