Today, travelers at Midway International Airport had a chance to do some unique holiday shopping.
An indoor sidewalk sale called "Glitter" was held at Midway today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Concourse A, past security checkpoints. The event featured 12 Chicago jewelry and accessory fashion designers who displayed and offered their creations, gifts and specialty items for sale. "Glitter" was made possible through a collaboration of the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture (COTC).
A second "Glitter" shopping event will be held at O'Hare International Airport this Friday, December 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Terminal 3, past security checkpoints.
A one-stop shop, the "Glitter" sidewalk sale at Chicago's airports is the perfect place for travelers to discover great gifts including accessories, apparel and jewelry from local fashion designers and independent retailers. The shopping event offers the opportunity to support Chicago's local fashion community while purchasing unique gifts for the holidays. As an added incentive to buy local, there will be complimentary gift wrapping with purchase.
