Attendees had a unique opportunity to participate in a Zumba workout during the CDA's Safety, Health & Wellness Expo.

Today, the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) hosted its 2nd Annual Safety, Health & Wellness Expo at O'Hare International Airport.

More than 300 airport employees attended the event, which was held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the O'Hare Skilled Trades Building (AMB). More than 25 exhibitors were present and admission was free.

The expo featured health screenings, flu shots, a Zumba workout pavilion, safety and health exhibits, healthy cooking demos, green living ideas, financial health information and more.

"Under the leadership of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the CDA is focused on empowering and motivating our employees to maintain and improve good physical health and overall well being," said CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. "The health and safety of airport employees is a top priority for the CDA and is an important part of our ability to effectively manage and operate O'Hare and Midway International Airports."

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and Walgreens clinical staff offered free cholesterol, diabetes and blood pressure checks, as well as flu shots. Attendees could also sign up for the CDA's "Step by Step" 10,000 Steps-A-Day weight loss program and receive a free pedometer. The CDA also provided pamphlets with information on health, nutrition and fitness websites and smart phone apps.

Midway International Airport will hold its free Safety, Health & Wellness Expo on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the airport's AMC building.
