Special Olympics Plane Pull at O'Hare this Saturday
O'Hare International Airport will be the site of the 3rd Annual Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run Plane Pull this Saturday, September 24 at 9 a.m.
Men and women are invited to compete in teams of 20 and play tug-of-war with a United Parcel Service (UPS) B757 aircraft. The event is organized and sponsored by Special Olympics Illinois.
Teams are invited to register online, click here. On-site registration will also be available on the morning of the event between 8 and 9 a.m.
Teams can compete in one of two divisions:
- Open Division (ideal for companies, school teams, church groups, clubs, friends and families)
- Public Safety Division (law enforcement officers, fire fighters, military personnel, etc.; teams need at least 10 public safety competitors to qualify)
Each team must pull the 198,000+ pound aircraft in the least amount of time to win the "Fastest Team Pull". Those winners will compete to be named Grand Champion.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the athletes of the Special Olympics Illinois.

Special Olympics Illinois is a non-profit organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions in a variety of Olympic-type sports to more than 27,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities.
