NJ LIBRARIES NEED YOUR HELP

Save Library Icon
The Governor's proposed budget cuts state funding to libraries by 74%.
This cut:

ELIMINATES Internet access and electronic journals in hundreds of libraries (Virtual Library funding in New Jersey Budget in Brief, pg. 98)

ELIMINATES the delivery of materials from other libraries to you - more than 3 million items were delivered in 2009
(Library Network Aid funding in New Jersey Budget in Brief, pg. 98)

ELIMINATES 50% of State Aid to public libraries (Per Capita Library Aid funding in New Jersey Budget in Brief, pg. 98)

Loss of these programs will put more pressure on local property taxes.  The $10 million in library programs cut from the Governor's budget represents little more than $1 per person in state funds.

Proposed legislation A2555 will ELIMINATE minimum funding for libraries and will result in fewer books, fewer hours and fewer services and will cause some libraries to close.

Take Action

A few quick, simple things you can do to save your library's services.  Help restore $10.4 million in library funding and oppose A2555.

The 10th book in the Sookie Stackhouse Series...

Dead in the Family CoverDead in the Family
by Charlaine Harris

Still reeling from the deaths of her fairy cousin, Claudine, and many others in 2009's Dead and Gone, Sookie Stackhouse struggles with paranormal politics in her entertaining if slow-moving 10th outing. When Claudine's triplet, Claude, appears at her doorstep, Sookie reluctantly allows him to move in. The government threatens two-natures with mandatory registration, and tensions run high in the local Were pack. Then Eric's maker, a Roman named Appius Livius Ocella, arrives without warning, bringing along Alexei Romanov, whom he rescued from the Bolsheviks and turned into a vampire. Though the action often builds too slowly, the exploration of family in its many human and undead variations is intriguing, and Harris delivers her usual mix of eccentric characters and engaging subplots.  Publishers Weekly (May)

The most exciting Women's Murder Club novel ever...

9th Judgement9th Judgement
by James Patterson

"Those who haven't read any of the novels in the Women's Murder Club series are cheating themselves." BookReporter.com

"I can't believe how good Patterson is, whether he's doing a Washington police yarn or traveling a different road with a female narrator. He is always on the mark. I have never begun a Patterson book and been able to put it down." USA Today Larry King

"Patterson and Paetro are at their best here, weaving a number of plots together to create a novel that dips and flows across genre lines.... A series that shows no signs of fatigue or flagging." BookReporter.com
