HAVE OLD BOOKS?
| While the library is currently not accepting any donations, there are plenty of other organizations out there that would be happy to have your gently used material!
Here are some other organizations that might be interested in used books, movies, or music:
Hospitals, Homeless Shelters, Local Schools, Senior Citizen Centers or Residences, & Prisons!
There are also organizations out there that accept donations and re-distribute your books to those in need. In most cases, you will need to ship the books to the group. You can try the below organizations:
Books for Soldiers, The "Rebuild Haiti" Better World Book Drive, & Reader to Reader.
DONATE VS. TOSS?
If your books and other material are afflicted with any of the following, throw them away!
ˇ books that have been stored in
damp areas - (garages, basements, outdoors) or books riddled with bugs,
or that display mold, or are covered with dirt
ˇ damaged material
ˇ
books with yellowed, stained, moldy, or torn pages
ˇ books that have
been written in or have underlining
You can recycle most of these books with your paper products, but for books that are hardcover, remove the hardcover spines first.
