LMC Supports United Way

A successful 2010 LMC United Way campaign recently came to a close. More than $18,000 in pledges and contributions were raised among College faculty and staff. To further show its support of the work United Way does, LMC is a featured organization in a public awareness campaign United Way is conducting. LMC employees Louis Thomas, Millie Woods and Jodie Littlefield are featured on "Live United" billboards throughout Berrien County. Look for them as you drive through the community.

Hundreds of new and unique items on the auction block, the $10,000 Raffle, and more make the Lake Michigan College Winner's Circle 21 one of the premiere social and fund-raising events of the year.  And all for a good cause...scholarships for LMC students. Procurement chairs, John and Karin Janick are recruiting volunteers for Winner's Circle 21 and are hoping you will join the procurement team. The procurement team is responsible for procuring items and services for the auction block. We are asking volunteers to make requests from a targeted list of businesses - you can make as many contacts as you feel comfortable with (average is 3 to 5). If you would like to join the procurement team, please contact Mary Fowler at 927-8167 or fowler@lakemichigancollege.edu

Logistics Classes at Bertrand Crossing

A number of area businesses recently approached Lake Michigan College about their need for entry level workers who

are trained in the basics of logistics. Based on that need, the College has partnered with those companies to develop a series of classes to train individuals in the areas of warehousing, sales and operations. An advisory committee consisting of industry representatives has formed to create an associate's degree in logistics. The first class, Introduction to Logistics, will be offered this winter at the Bertrand Crossing Campus.

High Attendance at Volunteer Fair

Volunteer Fair Attendees
LMC and the Volunteer Center of Southwest Michigan co-sponsored three Volunteer Fairs at Bertrand Crossing, Napier Avenue and South Haven campuses this month to recruit volunteers. Nearly 400 individuals attended and 35 agencies participated. The events are part of a college-wide effort to encourage students, faculty and staff to give back to the community through volunteerism.
