Harrison Named New President
Dr. Robert HarrisonAt its June meeting the LMC Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Robert Harrison as the ninth president of the College.  Bob had been serving as interim president since January.

During that time Bob has hosted "strategic discussions" with community members and businesses and faculty and staff; renewed emphasis on new academic programs and services; held tuition steady for at least the Fall semester, and watched student enrollment for Spring grow by 15 percent.

Bob sees a bright future for the College.  He expects to accelerate efforts to "connect with the community", continue the College's investment in the sciences, to expand programs in energy related fields, and more.
Obama Plan Would Benefit LMC
Dr. Harrison notes that President Obama's announcement yesterday to invest $12 billion in community colleges nationwide over the next 10 years goes right to the heart of some key priorities we have for our college and students. From student success and affordability to physical growth and renovation, the President's proposal is aligned with many of our initiatives, he said. See Dr. Harrison's complete reaction to President Obama's announcement.
