Welcome Lynda Craft!
Lynda is Optimus Prosthetics newest staff member. Welcome Lynda! She's recently joined Optimus
Prosthetics as a Prosthetic Technician.
Lynda will be responsible for fabricating
prosthetic devices in the company's Computer Aided Design and
Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) Lab. Lynda was one of the many displaced DHL
(Wilmington) employees with 12 years of commitment and customer service
excellence. Approximately 8000 jobs will be lost at DHL in Wilmington which
many fear will be devastating to the small town with a population of only 12,000.

First Steps!

Kurt
Gruben, CPO and Jeff Gerber of Ossur spent the day with the staff at Optimus
Prosthetics to provide continuing education and to assist with training Darrell
Smith to take his first steps on Ossur's Rheo knee! Imagine a prosthetic knee system
so smart that it automatically adapts to an individual's walking style and
environment, learning continuously and optimizing control over time. The RHEO KNEE® is the world's first microprocessor swing and stance knee system to
utilize the power of artificial intelligence. Capable of independent thought,
it learns how the user walks, recognizing and responding immediately to changes
in speed, load and terrain. The knee adapts to any situation, and not just
within pre-set and limited parameters, enabling the individual to quickly
regain confidence in his or her ability to walk where and how they choose.

Ready for the Runway...
Linda Lyons was excited to receive the first Runway prosthetic foot by Freedom Innovations. Here she is in sandals!
The Runway® is an adjustable heel height prosthetic foot.
Its anatomical gliding ankle maintains appropriate foot
alignment to provide knee stability and consistent performance at all heel
heights. And here she is in high heels!
Users can adjust from a flat heel for sandals or walking
barefoot at home, up to a 2 inch heel for dress shoes and even cowboy boots.
The Runway is the only heel height adjustable product
manufactured using carbon fiber, which stores and returns energy so that users
can walk farther, faster, longer.
