Pete Kildow Master Smoker
"Just set it and forget it."
That's what Pete Kildow, of Adamsville, Tennessee, likes to say about his Model 1500 smoker. As his signature on the
SmokinTex Forum says, he's a "proud owner of one of the first of 1500's sold when they were more like a test smoker." You can find many informative posts from by Pete on our
SmokinTex Forum.
Married to his best friend, Marilyn, Pete's first memory of eating BBQ was at a lttle shack in Crump,TN. He grew up on the Tennessee River in west Tennessee.
Pete has been smokin' for about 10 years and finds it a pleasure to feed people who enjoy what they eat.
He has fed 400+ people and can load his smoker up with 120 pounds of Boston Butts and pull them out and put in 80 pounds of chicken parts -- then serve 'em up to hungry folks.
He loves to smoke brisket and has even smoked whole catfish.
People told him the smoked catfish is as good as deep fried catfish. He says hickory is his preferred smokin' wood.
Pete has about 10 trips planned for this year and hauls his 1500 around with him.
Here's wishin' Pete many more years of happy smokin'!
Pete's Rub
1/2 cup canning salt
1/2 cup black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons oregano
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon of chile powder
Combine ingredients.
I keep 4 to 6 batches mixed up as it's better after
sitting for a few days.
Thanks Pete
