Apple Wood Smoked
Pulled Pork
Smoked Pulled Pork
This smoked pulled pork was created in our SmokinTex smoker Model 1100. We used a 3 pound pork shoulder, rubbed it and refrigerated overnight.
Smoked it at 225F degrees for 4 hours with 2 Tablespoons of all natural apple wood pellets now available on
Then put in a 350F degree oven in a roasting dish double covered with foil for 2.5 hours more.
Let rest for 5-10 minuets.
We pulled it and stacked the smoked pork high on a toasted Kaiser Roll, added coleslaw and a little SmokinTex BBQ sauce.
Outstanding! And delicious.
Give it a try and put your own spin on it.

Happy Smokin'!
Pete Kildow Master Smoker
Boston Butts
"Just set it and forget it."
That's what Pete Kildow, of Adamsville, Tennessee, likes to say about his Model 1500 smoker. As his signature on the SmokinTex Forum says, he's a "proud owner of one of the first of 1500's sold when they were more like a test smoker." You can find many informative posts from by Pete on ourSmokinTex Forum.
Married to his best friend, Marilyn, Pete's first memory of eating BBQ was at a lttle shack in Crump,TN. He grew up on the Tennessee River in west Tennessee.
Pete has been smokin' for about 10 years and finds it a pleasure to feed people who enjoy what they eat.
He has fed 400+ people and can load his smoker up with 120 pounds of Boston Butts and pull them out and put in 80 pounds of chicken parts -- then serve 'em up to hungry folks.
He loves to smoke brisket and has even smoked whole catfish.
People told him the smoked catfish is as good as deep fried catfish. He says hickory is his preferred smokin' wood.
Pete has about 10 trips planned for this year and hauls his 1500 around with him.
Here's wishin' Pete many more years of happy smokin'!
Pete's Rub
1/2 cup canning salt
1/2 cup black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons oregano
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon of chile powder
Combine ingredients.
I keep 4 to 6 batches mixed up as it's better after
sitting for a few days.
Thanks Pete
Wood pellets and wood chips are another option for enhancing the flavor of your smoked foods.  We have found some all natural wood pellets and chips that come in several different flavors. Try Sassafras Wood Pellets or mild Maple Wood Chips for a unique flavor when you smoke chicken. Or the strong flavor of Black Walnut Wood Pellets with beef or pork.
Use the wood chip insert so the smallest of pieces of wood chips or pellets don't fall through and damage the heating element.
Be adventurous in your smokin'!
