Enjoy the Process

If I can give you one piece of advice, its that fat loss = DIET + exercise, not EXERCISE+ diet. Catch my drift?
To quote trainer Craig Ballantyne, "You cannot out run a bad diet." If you don't change your eating habits then you will never lose weight no matter how much exercise you do. For those who didn't last newsletter, check out this video and you'll see what I mean. Exercise, particularly strength training, is a valuable tool for
optimizing weight loss if you've changed your diet. When you lift
weights your body will signal to your brain that muscle is precious and
must be preserved. It cannot be used for energy which leaves only your
body fat stores available for fuel. Enjoy the process. Don't just pine away for the end result. What I mean is, look forward to the way you'll feel after workouts. Their value goes light years beyond burning calories and weight loss. Proper exercise can:
- Help maintain body leanness
- Improve cardiovascular efficiency
- Enhance joint flexibility and stability
- Increase HDL (good cholesterol)
- Improve endurance and stamina
Notice that I said enjoy the feeling, not the workouts themselves. Exercise should be uncomfortable and intense work if each session is performed with a high degree of effort. At Back2Health: Total Fitness we encourage clients to train to the point of momentary muscular failure on each exercise. What you should really be enjoying is the mastery that you are gaining over your body which is a tremendous boost to confidence and self-esteem. If you can hold on to this then the chances of you reaching your goal and staying there will sky rocket. Good luck!
