Welcome to Agrabah, City of Enchantment, where every beggar has a story and every camel has a tail! The Athens Academy Middle School, in cooperation with Music Theatre International, will present the hit musical Aladdin, Jr. on February 9, 10, and 11. Filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides, the audience's spirits will soar with excitement. Most of all, the tuneful, Academy award-winning score with songs including "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me" will certainly make this musical a favorite for many years to come. ANNOUNCEMENT OF DIRECTOR OF LOWER SCHOOL

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Melton Weekley as the Director of the Lower School that includes K3 through fourth grade for the 2012-2013 school. In her tenth year at Athens Academy, she has served as Assistant to the Lower School Director, Preschool Coordinator, and, after the retirement of Bob Urich last year, as the Interim Director of Preschool and Lower School.

Mrs. Weekley has a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education and received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Georgia.  She is in her twenty-third year of educating preschool and elementary age children, twenty of these in independent schools.  Her experiences teaching, leading other teachers in their professional development, as well as supporting students and their families have prepared her for this position.We look forward to her continued leadership.
