As we implement and execute the initiatives in our long range planning process, the school continues to be committed to our emphasis on wellness in many forms - emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, environmental, and of course, physical. To this end I extend my appreciation to our parents, faculty, staff, and community who have volunteered their time and talents in all of these areas - specifically the nutritional component of physical wellness.  More...

Ross Mason '87 to Deliver Schacht Lecture

It is so rewarding for me to have the opportunity to observe young people grow and develop. Every student is different, and no two paths are the same, and I enjoy watching each of them pursue opportunities, meet challenges, and respond to adversity. Ross Mason, member of the Class of 1987 and this year's Schacht lecturer, is one who has seized opportunities and risen to the challenges he has faced. A Whole New World!

Welcome to Agrabah, City of Enchantment, where every beggar has a story and every camel has a tail! The Athens Academy Middle School, in cooperation with Music Theatre International, will present the hit musical Aladdin, Jr. on February 9, 10, and 11. Most of all, the tuneful, Academy award-winning score with songs including "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me" will certainly make this musical a favorite for many years to come.  More...

Sparbots' Inaugural Robotics

Tournament a Success

By Houston Gaines '13

On Saturday, January 21, the Athens Academy Sparbots (the school's Upper School robotics team) hosted fifteen teams from around the state in a Regional FIRST Tech Challenge robotics tournament. The event proved a success with the support of the entire Athens Academy community. Students, faculty, and administrators gathered to provide guests a fun and exciting day.

As thunder boomed outside, robots dueled in the Harrison Center. Twelve students from LaGrange High School came out on top with an impressive performance. In their quest to the championship, LaGrange and their alliance partner, Gilmer County High School, set new state records across the board.  More...
