Establishing a Vision for the Future of Athens Academy
To initiate the long-range planning process, the Education Committee of the Board of Trustees has developed a "Profile of the Athens Academy Graduate" which consists of many of the essential qualities we seek to develop in each of our students. Please take a few moments to contribute your thoughts and suggestions about how Athens Academy can continue to foster these traits by clicking on this survey link. It is the involvement of the members of the school community that enables the long-range plan to take shape.
Profile of the Athens Academy Graduate:
- Academic Excellence: continue to build a strong foundation in communication, literacy, research and problem-solving skills, and study habits in each student
- Personal Qualities: integrity/ honor; life-long learning, curiosity, passion; pride, confidence; respect, empathy, service; leadership, collaboration; self-awareness and self-advocacy; persistence, courage, resilience; flexibility, versatility, balance; creativity; awareness and appreciation for the world and other cultures

ATTENTION: MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE
A recent traffic survey revealed that at the intersection of 441 and Spartan Lane 85% of the vehicles were going over 62 mph in the 45 mph speed zone. While all of us have recognized the existing danger of traveling on 441, this information came as a surprise to me!
Again, I emphasize the importance for us to be extremely careful as we are making turns from and onto 441 at Spartan Lane and the athletic entrance. When an approaching vehicle is going over 62+ mph, it reaches you very quickly. Careful! Careful!
Law enforcement officials have announced that they will be increasing the surveillance of 441 in this area. I welcome it, and as a driver, I am doubling my effort to stay within the 45 mile per hour speed limit.
