Construction Beginning
After consideration of the parameters set regarding the progress of the capital campaign, earlier this week the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees met and voted unanimously to proceed with the construction of the new Arts and Preschool Center. Construction will begin immediately, with the scheduled opening to be at the beginning of the 2011-12 school year.
While we still have approximately $1.3 million to raise to receive the Foundation match of $1.25 million, the Board considers the timing to be appropriate now to move forward. It will be critical to raise the remaining $1.3 million during the next 12-15 months. Thanks to everyone for the continuing support of this campaign effort!

The sixth grade will be collecting canned goods for the
Food Bank of Northeast Georgia at all
carpool drop-off points tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Mom's and Dad's Morning Out
The Interact Club is hosting a Mom's and Dad's Morning Out benefiting Stop Hunger Now, an organization that provides food and other aid around the world. All preschool and lower school students enrolled at Athens Academy may attend. The event is Monday, December 20 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Lower School Barrett Hall.Snacks will be provided, but please send a lunch with your child.
The cost is $15 for the first child and $10 for subsequent children, but will not cost more than $35 per family. Money will be collected at the event. Children will have fun activities and winter crafts, watch movies and play on the playground. Please take some time for yourself and bring your children to this fun event!
