From the Athletics Department

CM fans were polled on December 8 - "Which team will make it farthest into the postseason?" Wrestling and hockey had big votes. We'll find out in the next few weeks.

The wrestling team competed at states on Friday and Saturday, with Emmit Tkach '12 (pictured below) and Cam Carpenter '12 leading the Knights with 4th place finishes. The two will compete at All-States on Feb. 24. Meanwhile, the team will compete against Milford in the first round of the team tournament this Sunday at 8:30am at the Tsongas Arena.

The hockey team moved to 6-7-2 after tying #2-ranked MC last week and falling in a nailbiter to SJP, 4-3. They next visit Bishop Hendricken today at 4pm. The swim team competed at Sectionals on Sunday morning, with Chris Lee finishing 17th (200m) and 20th (500m) and Alex Young '13 finishing 38th (100m back). They compete at States at Harvard on Saturday at 7pm.

The clock was not kind to the 13-3 basketball team in their Friday night matchup against #1 Brockton, but the Knights hope to rally as they head to the postseason next week.

And Donovan Henry '12 leads the track team to states this Thursday night at the Reggie Lewis Center. Henry won two conference titles last Thursday in the 55m and 300m events and was named the league's MVP.  The 4x200-meter relay team of Hanif Conrad '13, Dave Berment '12, Curtis West '12 and Andrew Rogantino '12 won convincingly as well.

CM is on Tucker's Team

World language teacher Ashley Critchley and her husband Eric lost their son, Tucker Joseph, to leukemia on October 29. In order to honor Tucker's strength and memory, the two will be running the Boston Marathon on April 16 with Team in Training.

On March 31, the team will host a benefit night at The Fours in Quincy, MA. The event will take place from 7pm-11pm.  Tickets will be $25 or $30 at the door.  There will be free food, raffle prizes, and silent auction items as well.

The Critchleys' goal is to raise $50,000. To date, they have raised over $26,000, with 100% of the funds raised going towards infant leukemia research. Click here to visit the "Tucker's Team" page. Mrs. Critchley writes: "Thanks so much for your prayers, encouragement and support. We couldn't do this without you!"
