Walking it out...for breast cancer research

Over four hundred and fifty students, parents, faculty and staff members converged again on the Charles River Esplanade on October 2, walking in solidarity with breast cancer survivors and their families in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

Behind these four hundred walkers - the largest team from any school or university in the state - was a supportive force of alumni, parents and friends who have collectively raised over $100,000 in the past seven years for the cause and this year was on pace to raise over $30,000.

This year marks the third year of Catholic Memorial's High School Challenge, which began in 2009 as a way to rally other high schools...[read more]

Connecting with Edmund's Network through leadership and action

The brotherhood of Edmund Rice Christian Brothers schools like CM extends around the world, as junior and senior leaders found out in Jacksonville, FL last week at the annual Student Action Workshop.

Mark Woodall '12 entertains the Action Workshop students with a song.

CM sent junior John McDonough and seniors Mark Woodall, Ronald Claude and Josh Dyson to Jacksonville, accompanied by Activities Director Patrick Murray.

There, students met with their counterparts from a dozen schools in North America and just as many from Central and South America, sharing their experiences, best practices in peer ministry and leadership and forming friendships and stronger networks among schools.

"It was an amazing experience," said Ronald Claude. "When we got there on Thursday, we didn't know anyone and we were asked to eat..." [read more]

From the Athletics Department

Dennis Muldoon '12 lined up against 192 top varsity runners from the east coast on Sunday at the Reebok Manhattan Cross-Country Invitational. Running the 2.5-mile course in 13:24, he beat 190 of them, coming in 2nd place on the legendary Van Cortlandt Park course. Watch the duel-meet undefeated Muldoon and his Knights lead the pack at tomorrow's running of the 52nd annual Catholic Memorial Invitational. Races begin at Franklin Park at 11am.

The varsity soccer team began the week with a 5-0 win over Stoughton. The win brought the team to a 6-2-2 record on the season. Thursday night's matchup against St. John's Prep had it all on the line and CM improved on its 7-1 loss to the Eagles from early season play. But in the end, SJP would edge them out, 1-0.
