Reports from Spring Break

At the end of his spring break in the Dominican Republic this April, Andrew Rogantino '12 got up in front of his peers and talked about baseball.

Asked to choose one object he'd found, purchased or been given that week, Rogantino chose what for him was one emblem of the country's greatness, a greatness he'd discovered by meeting the people, tasting the food, and working the land in this unique Caribeean place.

As CM's first delegation to the Dominican Republic, fifteen students on this BERSI trip had much to discuss when it came to reflections each night with Mr. Patrick Murray, who led the group...[read more]

Career Day's many choices

CEOs, CFOs, attorneys, supervisors, banking directors and detectives took a day off this month to share the love of their work with seventh and eighth graders in the Middle School Program.

Mr. Young P'13 '15.

Students watched with inquisitive minds as parents like Mark Young P'13 '15 talked about being a financial services expert, David Marshall P'15 shared stories from the Boston Fire Department, and Victoria Bifano P'16 discussed managing a company's HR budget.

In each student's face was the wonder and possibility that lies behind the question: what will you be when you grow up? Read more...

Independent studies conclude with Fab-Four salute

Senior Connor Keehnle's soulful script, acting, guitar solos and vocals brought two weeks of senior independent studies to a close on Tuesday afternoon. The UMass-bound senior, who has been a mainstay in CM's music programs for four years, applied his own interpretation to twenty-four Beatles's songs from albums that spanned the Fab Four's discography.

In between acoustic and electric performances on guitar, Keehnle performed a conversation with a disembodied Paul McCartney, whose advice on love and life was piped in from speakers surrounding him, as he recounted his own experiences growing up...[read more]

With new fields, new traffic patterns

As part of the $1.7 million in renovations taking place at CM this summer, construction on Br. McKenna Field begins this Monday, May 16. David Berment '12 and Armani Reeves '12 took the opportunity on Friday afternoon (below) to make a few last passes on the existing field.

Parents and students, please note: in order to accommodate the construction equipment, the Springvale St. entrance to the school's rear parking lot will be closed. Students and parents must enter the lot through the main entrance on Baker Street, and exit using the Marshall Street egress next to McCracken Auto. In order to prevent traffic jams and ensure safety, we are asking that all constituents follow this traffic pattern. No one will be allowed to enter the parking lot through Marshall Street; doing so will increase the risk of accidents.

Since our senior class had its last day this past week, juniors who wish to park in the rear lot must now register their cars with Mr. Finamore prior to parking there. We apologize for the convenience and look forward to the improved campus we will have this fall!

We're nearing our goal!

0108a

Thank you to all of those members of the CM community who have chosen to make the school a priority in their philanthropic giving.

The Unrestricted Annual Fund - the largest source of income after tuition, is nearing its goal of $400,000, raising over $311,000 in gifts and pledges or 78% toward the mark.  But the participation goal is just as important, and CM stands at 82%, or 1,425 donors, toward our goal of 1,743.
