High School Magic
"It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's what you do with your dancin' shoes." ~Vince
How do you follow last spring's wondrous performance on the CM stage of Les Miserables? "With the complete opposite type of musical," said Mr. Spaner. On Wednesday night, over four hundred guests were treated to Grease, and they got more than just Mark Woodall '12 turning on his charm. They were transported to Rydell High in 1959 through a play that conjures the magic most of us knew in high school. Clearly, for those involved on the stage and behind the scenes, putting on Grease is one high school memory they'll never forget.

8,101 Shots for Life
Mike Slonina '11 told reporters that he'd just been through a battle. "It's like my body went through a heavyweight fight," he said.
But in 24 consecutive hours, the ever-determined senior, whose efforts and sincerity some may have doubted at first, did what he accomplished to do. To honor the doctors and staff at Mass General Hospital's Curry Research Lab, who had treated his mother for a possible brain tumor, Slonina shot hoops for 24 straight hours on April 9-10.
"If you're a brain cancer patient, you don't get to take time off from being sick," Slonina said. "If I quit, I feel like I'm letting them down. I wanted to put myself through the biggest physical challenge that I could."
With a devoted team of followers, Parent Council volunteers, and support from CM faculty and staff, Slonina drained three-pointer after three-pointer and layup after layup, shooting with remarkable efficiency. Even the Mayor (above) stopped by to wish him luck. Read about Slonina's epic bout with the net on ESPN Boston, which also has a remarkable hour-by-hour transcript of his travails.
At last count, Slonina's Senior Service Project had single-handedly raised over $16,000 for The Curry Lab.

BC-bound Gorman throws no-hitter
John Gorman '11 threw fastballs, curves and changeups to stun Wachusett Regional on April 8 in a dramatic no-hitter at CM's Todesca Field.
It was Gorman's second career no-hitter. The senior captain, who will play for Boston College next year, threw his first no-hitter for the team two years ago in a 1-0 midseason win over Brookline.

Matthew West, Boston Herald
"This one set the tone for us," Gorman said after the game. "And they were the only team we did not beat last year, because the other teams we lost to...[read more]

We're nearing our goal!
Thank you to all of those members of the CM community who have chosen to make the school a priority in their philanthropic giving.
The Unrestricted Annual Fund - the largest source of income after tuition, is nearing its goal of $400,000, raising $274,312 in gifts and pledges or 69% toward the mark. But the participation goal is just as important, and CM stands at 64%, or 1,110 donors, toward our goal of 1,743.
