From the Principal's Office
Dear Catholic Memorial Parents,
We're looking forward to the
start of another great school year at Catholic Memorial School. Thanks
to the support and dedication of our parent community, our school is
strong and will continue to Richard Chisholm, Principal | remain a competitive college-preparatory
institution in the coming years.
As your son arrives at CM this fall, he'll notice several
changes that have occurred during the summer months. The classrooms in
Donahue Hall are being equipped with SMART boards as well as some
classrooms in the high school. In the high school building, new
flooring has been installed in some classrooms and the lighting in the
halls has been updated.
Aside
from the changes in administration which President Sheff detailed to
you in June, there are some other changes in the faculty and staff. Leah Ramsdell has been appointed Director of Campus Ministry, while
Andrew Malionek will be taking over as Chair of the Theology
Department. We'd like to welcome John Aversa (Math), Kathryn Boyle
(Campus Ministry), J. Christopher Russell (Theology and English) and
Shendon Wang (Mandarin).
Looking ahead, we invite Middle School Program parents to join us
on Thursday, September 16 at 7pm for the Middle School Mini Schedule. The High School Mini Schedule
will take place at 7pm on September 21. Other events, including Olympic Day, the Making
Strides Walk for Breast Cancer, and picture retakes day, can be found
on the school calendar. Thank you, again, for helping to make the beginning of this
year run smoothly. I hope you enjoy the remaining days of summer, and
I look forward to a great year.
Sincerely,
Richard Chisholm

Summer Program offers small class sizes, individual attention
Offering coursework for enrichment in
history, world languages, English and chemistry, among others, the
Summer Education Program gave students an individualized approach to
working with CM's best teachers.
Program director and CM English teacher Nick Colarossi, in his second
year heading the summer courses, was pleased to see both CM students
and students from outside the school community do well in summer
coursework. Students took some courses to catch up, while others took
courses to get ahead or strengthen skills they had acquired during the
winter.

"Given the smaller class sizes we offer
and the fewer commitments outside of class they have, most students do
much better in the summer," Colarossi said...[read more]

Thank You.
Thank you for your support of CM's 2009-10 Annual Fund. Because of the generous support of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, faculty, staff and friends, Catholic Memorial had its second best year of fundraising, with over $1.2 million raised from nearly 1,500 donors. This amount includes gifts to the Annual Fund, financial aid, endowment and facilities.
Please click on the above to watch a "thank you" video from the CM community.
Your
continued support of Catholic Memorial's fundraising efforts is vital
to the school's mission and the future of CM. We thank you for doing
your part to contribute.
