From the President
Dear Parents, Alumni and Friends,
With the close of the school year last week we have said goodbye to another senior class, and we anticipate welcoming a new crop of CM students into our doors this fall. Some changes for the coming school year are already in place and I wanted to write to update you on them.
Admissions: After eight years at Catholic Memorial, Mr. John Mazza will be leaving to take up responsibilities as Vice President for North American Operations at CCN, the organization through which we have been enrolling students from Korea and China. It is impossible to overemphasize John's contributions to our community in these past eight years. While we regret that he is moving on, the move to CCN is an exciting one and will add to his professional career.
Mr. Tom Ryan has agreed to become our next director of admissions. A graduate of Iona Prep (1992) and Stonehill College (1996) with a major in religion, Mr. Ryan has also earned a master's degree from St. Mary's University in Winona, MN. Mr. Ryan came to us after two years at DaMatha High School in Hyattsville, MD, and another year at Rochester Lourdes Academy, in Rochester, MN. Initially Mr. Ryan taught in our theology department for two years before moving, seven years ago, into the dean of students' office. Mr. Ryan has done a wonderful job in that position and is deeply committed not only to the welfare of our boys, but to the well-being of our school.
Dean of Students: Mr. Ryan is being replaced by Mr. Brian Scott, but he will have a job with broader oversight responsibilities, including those of campus ministry and student activities. Consequently, Mr. Scott's title will be Vice Principal of Student Affairs, one that will complement the position of Dr. James Keane, our Vice Principal of Academic Affairs.
A graduate of College of the Holy Cross (1998), Mr. Scott earned a Master of Divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School before coming to CM. Here, he has served as Theology Department chair, Director of Technology, and Director of Campus Ministry. In his various capacities, Mr. Scott has shown his dedication for this school and a skill set that makes him ideal for this new position.
CMTV: Mr. Bill Hahn will be leaving us at the end of school to take up responsibilities as one of two assistant principals at Walpole High School...[read more]

That message came from valedictorian Jin-Houng Kim '10: "Over the past four years, we have matured into young men we are today, with a passion for our future. With the help of those who care for us, we are ready to take on the world."
It came from salutatorian Dan Haley '10: "Whatever endeavors we may embark upon, we will find success, because it is part of the nature of who we are."
