Guidance Department Update
Mr. Bob Tegan, Director of Guidance
Our seniors have now moved from the "Application to College cycle" to the "Application for Financial Aid and Scholarships cycle." Filling out the FAFSA is imperative if a student expects to receive any sort of financial aid. If it hasn't been done yet it needs to get done as soon as possible!
Some colleges
also require a CSS/PROFILE. Check out the list of colleges that require
this form at collegeboard.com. A lot of good information was learned
by parents at our Financial Aid Information Night in January at Stonehill
College. The high cost of college can be frightful. However, the good
news is that many colleges can be generous in supporting needy students.
The Junior and Parents Guidance Information
Night is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11th at 7:00 p.m. This
is the night that really kicks off the active cycle of the college process
for our juniors.
Sophomores are being encouraged to
utilize the career component of our Naviance program called "Do What
You Are". Naviance is an internet portal for students that helps them
to better understand who they are, what they might want to do in life,
and what colleges might be good fits for their individual style.
College acceptances are now starting
to roll in. We are pleased to report that our seniors have received
acceptance to the following colleges so far: Anna Maria, Arizona State, Assumption,
Babson, Becker, Bentley, Brandeis, Bridgewater State, Bryant, Coastal
Carolina, Culinary Institute of America, Curry, DePaul, Drexel, Duquesne,
Eckerd, Fairfield...[read more]

Prayers, Letters and Relief for Haiti
The entire Catholic Memorial community
stands in solidarity with the people of Haiti in their time of crisis.
Over the past few weeks, the school has united in several ways to show
this solidarity.
Click on image above to watch CMTV's summary of CM's reports on Haiti.
On CMTV last week, President Paul Sheff '62 came on the air to
encourage students to pray for their classmates whose families were
affected by the earthquake. In theology classes, students discussed
