From the Principal's Office
September 15, 2009
Dear Catholic Memorial Parents,
Thanks to your efforts
and cooperation, Catholic Memorial School has gotten off to a
successful start in this, its 53rd year of educating children in the
spirit and charism of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers.
As you visit CM in the coming weeks, you will notice the
improvements to our grounds and facilities that occurred over the
summer. Our hallway tiles have been replaced in the high school
building, as have the staircases. Masonry work was conducted on the
front apron, new Smartboards were installed in several classrooms, and
the ladies' room adjacent to the gymnasium was refurbished.
Three new faculty members have joined us and we are pleased to
introduce them to you. Mr. Mark Wentworth joins us in the Science
Department. Mr. Wentworth previously taught at Hudson Catholic High
School. Ms. Marie Plunkett is also joining the Science Department. She
formerly taught at Westwood High School, Natick High School, and for
the Virtual High School. Mr. Mingxing Li hails from China and will be
teaching
the students Mandarin Chinese. In his second year of teaching in
America, Mr. Li formerly taught at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School.
Across Massachusetts and nationwide, schools districts have been as
concerned as parents about the spread of the H1N1 influenza virus. At
CM, we have taken several precautions to ensure that our students are
safe and remain healthy throughout the year. You will soon find more
information about preventative measures on the Nurses' Office page of
our school website.
Looking ahead, we invite Middle School Program parents to join us
this Thursday, September 17 at 7pm for the Middle School Mini
Schedule. The High School Mini Schedule will take place at 7pm on
September 24. Other events, including Olympic Day, the Making Strides
Walk for Breast Cancer, and picture retakes day, can be found on the school calendar,
which also appears on our school website.
Thank you, again, for helping to make the beginning of this year run smoothly. I look forward to a great year.
 Richard F. Chisholm P '93 '98 '03 Principal
