About the Company...

The Finishing Touch was started in June 2001 by Misty Trevino in Sacramento, CA. The Finishing Touch designs and manufactures custom window treatments, bedding, pillows, cushions and table coverings. The company also offers various hard window treatments, fabrics, trims and hardware from quality partner companies.
The company is committed to honest and ethical business practices and provides the highest quality workmanship. We are a member of the Window Coverings Association of America and adhere to the WCAA's workroom quality standards.

| Greetings! | With 2010 safely behind us, many of us are looking forward to 2011 in hopes of a better future. Now that we find ourselves at the end of January, I hope that you are still filled with hope and expectation of better things to come.
I have just one question for you to consider. Are you courageous or are you at a stand still? All of us face this question at times, but I have found that as a small business owner I am faced with this question far more often that I wish to admit. I recently have been given a reason to think deeply about this question in my own life and I'd like to share it with you.
Just before Christmas, I was approached by several other small business owners who were entertaining the idea of leasing a retail space together and wanted to know if I would be interested in joining them in this exciting, new venture. At the same time, my family was very uncertain about the status of my husband's job and we did not know if he would be employed after the 1st of the year or if he would be asked to relocate. Two large companies had merged together and the "new" company would have to completely restructure it's management, office staff and sales representatives. Our lives had been at a stand still for many months as we waited on the news and yet I could not let this opportunity to grow my business pass me by. I had a choice to make...would I be courageous or would I remain in this state? Completely stuck! After some careful consideration and after spending some alone time with my fears, I committed to the group that as long as we did not have to re-locate our family, I was IN!
As the story ends for now, I want you to know that my husband has an excellent job with the new company and we will be having a grand opening on my first design studio in just a few short weeks! What a whirlwind this has been, and I couldn't be more excited or energized about this new direction. There is so much more to share, but that will come soon.
So again, I pose this question to you...Are you courageous or are you at a stand still? What are you facing in your life that has caused you to pause and choose to stick with the status quo or to boldly move in a new and uncertain direction. While we were in the midst of very uncertain times and not knowing which choices to make, we were watching the movie Evan Almighty. In that movie, God is having a conversation with Evan and He asks Evan this: "When people pray for courage, do you think that I just give them courage or do I give them opportunities to be courageous?"
May I encourage you to take the opportunities you have before you and choose to be courageous...even if you do not feel courageous at the time, the courage will come. We have this one life to live...it is what we make of it. Don't let it pass you by.

COME SEE US AT THE HOME & LANDSCAPE EXPO THIS WEEKEND!!!
| Last year was the first year that I participated in the Home & Landscape Expo thanks to my dear friend Lucy Brown of Gary Brown Enterprises. I never knew, but apparently this show has been held every January since 1995 and is the LARGEST SHOW in all of CALIFORNIA! Last year we had 37,814 people attend the show over the course of just 3 days! AND, there are over 1000 exhibit booths and over 600 companies that fill ALL of the buildings at Cal Expo. It is truly an event to attend and tell your friends about. Here are the details:
- Dates: THIS WEEKEND!!! January 28 - 30, 2011
- Times: Friday 12pm-7pm, Saturday 10am-7pm, Sunday 10am-6pm
- Admission: $7 adults, Children 12 & under are free, Friday special only: Seniors 60 years and older just $2
