| Greetings!
|
I've been thinking about what makes the Sacramento area so great lately. Well...there are two things that stand out right away to me...
The first thing is the location. We are so close to both the snow and the ocean. And, being centrally located, we have the ability to enjoy the sandy, warm beaches of southern California as well as the beautiful northern coast. Each of them are just a short drive away.
The second thing is the climate. My mom taught me long ago about the beauty of the seasons. She spent many years in southern CA where it is sunny and warm all year long. In Sacramento we get the opportunity to experience all of the seasons... each one unique and beautiful in their own way. As much as I am not crazy about the rain, I love the beauty it brings in the spring!
Okay...now on a more practical level...Sacramento is incredibly convenient. It is hard to drive 1 mile (and sometimes even 1 block) without passing many of our favorite restaurants and shops. Each of these businesses keeps it's doors open because of the loyalty of you and me. They are a part of what makes Sacramento so great. Our lives are busy...our time is valuable...and the convenience of locally owned businesses is priceless.
So much of the media is shouting at us that the economy is failing and that many businesses are closing their doors. I want to encourage you to support your local businesses as much as possible. Visit that favorite restaurant more often, allow your local mechanic to change your oil (he may discover a small problem before it becomes a big problem), shop at the small, locally owned business before purchasing from a large internet based company. Let's do our part to keep Sacramento great by keeping the small businesses we love in business. They do a tremendous amount for our local economy and the financial well being of this great state.
One last thing...do yourself a favor by turning off the news for a minute. Read a book, visit a museum or get outside with your family and enjoy what this amazing city has to offer. Spring is nearly upon us...
Sincerely,
