Special Fraud Alert

 Fraudulent activity has increased over the years, and GreyStone members are not exempt.
If you are a residential member and you receive a phone call threatening to disconnect power to your residence if you don't pay a certain amount, be wary. These individuals may represent themselves as GreyStone Power, but they are not. Though it may seem legit, we would advise that you not pay this way. If you give out your credit card information to an individual over the phone, you may find that thousands of dollars could be charged to your card.
What should you do if you receive a call like this?
Hang up! There is no need to give out your personal information over the phone. If you need to make a payment, you may do so via our website, through the automated phone system, with a representative in person or via phone, with which you initiated the call. |

Summer rates
|  Summer rates have officially gone into effect, so there's no time like the present to start becoming more energy efficient! Keeping your thermostat set to 78 degrees will go a long way in helping you maintain a more manageable bill. These rates will be in effect through October, so buckle down and put our energy saving tips into practice and watch your bill go down. Deadline is approaching

 Three seats on the GreyStone Power Board of Directors are up for grabs at this year's Annual Meeting of Members on Oct. 13, but you better hurry, the deadline is July 5!
As a member, make your voice heard. Members may still be placed on the ballot by submitting a petition signed by 50 or more GreyStone members of record (the name must appear on the electric bill). The deadline to submit the completed petition to GreyStone is Thursday, July 5, by 5 p.m. For more information, you may call 770-370-2066 or visit greystonepower.com to download a petition.

You can help save the future

The Environmental Protection Agency, in a proposed New Source Performance Standard for greenhouse gases (GHG), is working to effectively outlaw coal as a fuel source for the next generation of power plants. The proposed standards would require new coal plants to install carbon capture and storage, a technology that is not yet commercially available and is prohibitively expensive. This proposal by the EPA would raise electric bills and affect reliability for all electricity consumers in the U.S. This would eliminate coal as a fuel source for future generation and reduce America's fuel diversity. This proposed regulation fails to recognize the importance of coal to America's domestic energy security and will have many negative impacts on consumers. Electric utilities, including GreyStone, are continually adding features to coal plants that have massively cut greenhouse gas emissions to date.
We need your help. Please visit www.ourenergy.coop, click on the orange "Take Action" button on the right side of the page, and you will be led to a site where you can contact the EPA, as well as your congressmen. It's very simple and will only take a few moments of your time. The text is actually there for you. The site will select your congressman and senator for you based on your address and direct your email to them. It's that easy!
