New Call Center HoursCALL CENTER HOURS HAVE CHANGED
Just a reminder that our new Call Center hours changed effective Jan. 1 in an effort to keep electricity costs down. The new hours are 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Automated phone service, website and outage reporting services will remain available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Together We Save - Tip of Month
airtightAir is drawn into your home from low areas, so inspect your foundation for potential air-filtration points. Fixing these leaks makes a bigger impact on your electric bill than sealing doors and windows! Caulk all cracks and gaps around your home, including spaces around wires for telephone, electrical, cable and gas lines, water spigots and dryer vents. Find more ways to save at TogetherWeSave.com.

Communities in Schools
CIS meeting 2012Surrounding students with the support of a community by empowering them to stay in school and achieve great things in life is the primary mission for a group called Communities in Schools of Douglas County (CISDC).

As one of GreyStone's guiding principles states, "Community service reflects our values and is how we give back to others." It only made sense when GreyStone agreed to partner with CISDC in an effort to invest in the lives of students in our community.

CISDC provides many different services to students, including an after school program, mentoring and character education. The mentoring program has been phenomenal as it helps to improve student attendance; enhance personal, educational and social development; and reduce the number of dropouts.

GreyStone stays up to date on all CISDC happenings by serving on the organization's board. GreyStone public relations & communications coordinator Ashley Kramer serves as secretary of the board, and recently attended a regional retreat with CISDC Executive Director Mitzi Teal, which offered resources from the state and national CIS offices to strengthen local affiliates and build the CIS network, which serves nearly 1.3 million students.

CISDC is always in need of caring adults to mentor students. To learn more about this program or to get involved, contact Mitzi Teal at 770-651-2039 or email her at mitzi.teal@douglas.k12.ga.us.

Welcome to Co-op Square
Co-op Square logoCOMING MARCH 2012!

It's almost time! Co-op Square will be launching soon allowing players the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives around them.
Performing energy efficiency, safety and random deeds and acts of kindness have never been more fun to complete!

Though Co-op Square has not officially launched, we have already received international recognition. The Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF) has expressed their desire to support the game by pushing it out to their 70 cooperatives. "The idea of having a Facebook game is fantastic... Youths in Singapore are generally unaware of the impact of cooperatives on society and this game might be one of the platforms for us to get them interested and started on caring for the community!" said SNCF Marketing Executive Irving Lim.

We hope to see Co-op Square become an online community where individuals can learn more about themselves and what they are capable of achieving by simply trying. There will be many opportunities to learn how to save energy and money, practice putting others first and connecting with others while completing tasks in order to earn points. Players will also be able to earn special badges along the way.

Founded upon five of GreyStone Power's guiding principles, Co-op Square is a direct effort to make a mark on our community, region and even world. "Community service reflects our values and how we give back to others," is just an example of how GreyStone hopes to "build a better community for a better tomorrow."

If you are competitive, this will be a great game to challenge you, along with your friends, families and even co-workers. You can play individually, as a family or team. How better to build a better world than by working together!

We are just one of the hundreds of cooperatives from around the world joining together to celebrate 2012 as the International Year of the Cooperative (IYC). By promoting cooperatives and the vital role we play in social and economic development, we hope to increase awareness of how cooperatives can meet both community and individual needs. To learn more about the IYC, visit usa2012.coop or 2012.coop.

Be sure to visit us at Facebook.com/greystonepower to learn more about Co-op Square! Get ready to make a mark on your community!
