Is your dentist waiting on you?
With the economy still in the tank, many families are still struggling to make ends meet. Going to a doctor or dentist would be considered a luxury expense. And you can forget purchasing eye glasses or hearing aids. Though they may be needed, there's just no room in the budget.

Well, listen up friends! I am so EXCITED to tell you about the latest benefit addition to the Co-op Connections Card (CCC)  program! Recently the Healthy Savings program, formerly the Cooperative Healthy Savings and Healthy Saving Plus programs, have become a FREE added benefit! These programs once offered valuable discounts for a monthly fee, but NO MORE! The fee has been waived and the discount benefits have been enhanced! Now all GreyStone members can benefit from this heathly addition! With your new CCC, you are now eligible to receive discounts with dental, hearing, vision, lab and imaging and chiropractic services in addition to prescription retail savings!

For many of you, this benefit will determine whether you can or cannot afford one of these services. Even if you have insurance, the savings may still be more than your primary insurance, so be sure to compare.

So, now that I have your attention, and you are as excited as I am about the new benefits, how do you start taking advantage of the reward? Easy-- just use your new CCC! You will need a new Co-op Connections card with the participating logos on the back. This will be a different look than the back of the existing card.

Simply print out your new temporary card at connections.coop and you can start taking advantage of the new benefits immediately. This temporary card will allow you all of the same benefits that came with the old card in addition to the new health benefits. The old card will still work as before, without the new health benefits. New cards have been ordered and will arrive by April 2012.

If you have additional questions about the program or one of the many benefits the program offers, feel free to call us at 770-370-2436. To request a card, call 770-370-2273.

WHAT'S YOUR STORY?
We would LOVE to hear your success stories! Visit us on Facebook.com/greystonepower and tell us how the card is working for you. Where is your favorite place to use the card? How has the card helped you and your family? Have you experienced any big savings? It's time to share your story with others!

Welcome to Co-op Square
Co-op Square buildings
Do you ever wish people were just nicer? Have you recently witnessed something while in public and thought what in the world happened to chilvary and good manners towards others? I'm sure we all have.

In an effort to help bring about change for our community and revive what once was lost, we are creating a Facebook game that is scheduled to launch in March 2012. We hope it will inspire all generations to actively participate in a conscious effort to impact lives around us.

Welcome to Co-op Square, the virtual home to many good deeds and random acts of kindness. Co-op Square is an online community founded upon one of GreyStone Power's guiding principles that "community service reflects our values and how we give back to others." With that in mind, we would like to invite you to join us on our quest to "build a better community for a better tomorrow."

When you visit Co-op Square, you will have the opportunity to earn points for completing good deeds and tasks throughout the month. You can also compete with others in an attempt to earn special mystery badges along the way. Each day will offer a new deed or task and an ongoing record of the tasks you have already completed. At the end of the year, you will be able to look back and see the great accomplishment you have made to impact your community and the lives around you. Each month will bring new opportunities to grow individually and hopefully make a positive change for others.

If you are competitive, this will be a great game to challenge you, along with your friends, families and even co-workers. You can play individually, as a family or team. Glenn English, CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) sums it up best, "By getting neighbors and communities to work together, co-op members build a better world."

How better to build a better world than by working together! We are just one of the hundreds of cooperatives from around the world joining together to celebrate 2012 as the International Year of the Cooperative (IYC). By promoting cooperatives and the vital role we play in the social and economic development, we hope to increase awareness of how cooperatives can meet both community and individual needs. To learn more about the IYC, visit usa2012.coop or 2012.coop.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to Co-op Square's release date. In the meantime, gear up and get ready to make a mark on your community!

Scholarships can help make
a dream come true.
Parents, welcome to 2012 and the countdown to the end of school. If you have a senior in high school this is a very bittersweet time. Not only are you savoring the moments you have left with them, but you also have to help them plan for their future.

Is college part of that future? If so, you already know the struggle you might face in coming up with tuition each year because of rising school costs. Did you know that we offer several different scholarships for our membership families?

The Walter Harrison Scholarship awards several $1,000 scholarships to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance. Students will be selected from across the state through local Georgia EMCs based on several criteria. The application deadline is Jan. 31, 2012. To learn more about this scholarship or to download an application, visit greystonepower.com.

The GreyStone Power Foundation, Inc. Scholarship awards five $3,000 scholarships to GreyStone members or their children based on need and academic achievement. The application deadline is April 13, 2012. To learn more about this scholarship or to download an application, visit greystonepower.com.

As you prepare your scholarship search, be sure to seek the advice of your teen's school counselor for tips and other helpful hints about submitting scholarship requests and financial aid information. There are many great sites on the web to help you find an abundance of "how to" information. All you have to do is simply--get started!
