Come celebrate with us on Saturday, Oct. 8! We have added many new things this year in conjunction with our anniversary, so you are sure to have fun! Here's a peek at what we have in store: Chick-fil-a biscuits will be a.m. served from 8 - 10 a.m. Walter Reeves from WSB will broadcast his Home and Garden Show live at GreyStone beginning at 6 a.m. followed by Captain Herb Emory's NASCAR show, AVF Speed Shop. At 10 a.m., The Inspirations Gospel group will be back entertaining you with their award winning songs. And to wrap up our business meeting, we have added a few special door prizes to the list! How would you like a chance to win a diamond jewelry set donated by D. Geller & Son in honor of our 75th Anniversary, or perhaps a NEW car donated by Thornton Road Hyundai? Yes, I said NEW!!! Boy do we have BIG news for you! It's time for our annual capital credits mail out, and this year will be bigger than ever! 

On Sept. 30, GreyStone Power will begin mailing $7.5 MILLION back to our members. Yes, you read correctly, $7.5 million. This year marks our largest dividend return to members ever! In association with our 75th anniversary, our Board of Directors voted to increase the yearly returns. "We are thrilled to send out the largest amount ever at the same time we are celebrating our 75th anniversary," says Gary Miller, President/CEO of GreyStone. "During this slow growth time, we are pleased to have been able to build equity in the corporation, enabling us to benefit our members in this way."

In 2011 you will receive a return on your investment from the years 2010, 1990, 1991, and 1992. Only members that received power from GreyStone during these years will receive a check.

The amount of electricity used during this time period and the co-op's cost of distributing the power during that time will determine the amount of the check. Checks can range from $5 to several thousand dollars for commercial members.

GreyStone Power Board Chairman Calvin Earwood echoed Miller's remarks. "Since the co-op's beginning in 1936, GreyStone has been successful due to its dedication to fiscal conservatism and efficient management of members' funds. Ever since we began in 1936, our members have entrusted their money to us, and had faith in us to use it wisely. I am pleased to say that everyone from the board of directors to each employee takes their trust in us very seriously. We are determined to serve members in the best way we know how. Surpassing member's needs and expectations is our focus every day," he said.

Checks will be sent to each member's last known address. Since some of you have moved since having service with GreyStone, it's important to let us know where you are now. Please contact us with your forwarding address by email at memberservices@greystonepower.com or by calling 770-942-6576. If a check isn't claimed after five years, the money is used through the GreyStone Power Foundation, Inc. to fund scholarships for deserving students and assist members and the public through charitable organizations in the community.

GreyStone has returned more than $55 million in capital credits to members since 1936, with the latest installment of $7.5 million to be sent out to 123,386 members during the first week of October.
