DID YOU KNOW?

The tradition of putting tangerines in stockings comes from 12th-century French nuns who left socks full of fruit, nuts and tangerines at the houses of the poor.

Happy-Merry-Ho-Ho!
The Holiday Season is here!

Let the last minute holiday shopping begin while Christmas music fills the air. For elves like myself, this is the best time of the year! But not everyone shares the same joy for the season. Times are tough as many families are still out of work, wondering how they are going to make ends meet, much less provide Christmas for their families.

This season, I would like to challenge you to extend grace where needed and be as generous as you can. Find a need through your church, school system or local charity and fulfill it. Even in hard times, there is always something to be thankful for. Together we can remind others in need that hope is there.

Have you thought about what you are you thankful for

this holiday season?

Holiday Safety

holiday fire safetyARE YOU PREPARED THIS HOLIDAY SEASON?

'Tis the season for house lights and Christmas trees! As pretty as both of these can be, they both carry their own set of hazards.

Here's a couple of helpful hints to keep in mind while you are preparing for the festive season:
  • Be sure to choose flame resistant or retardant decorations.
  • Keep lit candles away from decorations and other things that can burn.
  • Do not use any string of lights with worn or broken cords or loose bulb connections.
  • Connect no more than three strands of mini light sets and a maximum of 50 bulbs for screw-in bulbs. See manufacturer's instructions for LED strands.
  • Make sure your tree is placed at least three feet away from any heat source (fireplace, radiator, candle, heat vent or light) and is not blocking an exit.
  • Be sure to add water to the tree stand daily.
  • Always turn off Christmas tree lights before leaving home or going to bed.

New Improved Services Are Coming!
conversion teaser adIn an effort to offer our members faster and more efficient service, we are undergoing some exciting changes that will take effect in early 2011.

As the conversion rolls out, you will begin to see a new look on your bill. It will be easier to read with more information about your electricity usage. Multiple bills may be consolidated into just one, and new account numbers will be assigned to all members.

To help you transition smoothly, bank draft and credit card draft members will need to re-enroll with your new account number to set up draft payments, which will carry no fee. Through FiServ, GreyStone's new payment processor, new convenience charges will apply to E-check and debit/credit card transactions. To find out more about the fee changes and other great enhancements, check out the Reaching New Heights pamphlet.

Our Energy. Our Future.

Power Crisis video pic

In the next few years we could find ourselves waking up one morning to no power. It is estimated that we will need 30 percent more electricity in our country than we have the ability to produce.

There have been many debates and legislative acts presented in Congress to address the power crisis. Did you know you have a voice that counts?

Demand for energy is increasing. As demand increases, so can cost.  It's time to use your voice to let your elected officials know how you feel. Join the conversation today!
