September Events Recap
We held our Central Vermont Office Grand Opening on September 8th at 148 State Street in Montpelier. Blue Flame Gas sponsored the event and grilled up a last summer BBQ for the members who attended.
Our September Membership Mixer was held at the HBRA office on September 13th. Otter Creek Awnings, Sunrooms & Custom Closets sponsored the event and brought fun "Minute to Win It" games and prizes to jazz things up. Click Here for pictures.
The 21st Annual HBRA / Hackett Valine & MacDonald Golf Tournament was held on September
22nd at Rocky Ridge Golf Course. We had about 80 players out on the course during the mostly clear day. Bouchard-Pierce set-up on the golf course with their grill and made tasty treats for the golfers. Thanks Chef Jim! Click Here to see pictures of this fun event. We held a Franklin County Mixer on September 28th up at Harley D's Restaurant in St. Albans. We had an intimate crowd that enjoyed some appetizers and business discussions. Portland Glass generously donated a $25 gift card to JCPenny and Safeguard Business Systems donated two beautiful jackets for door prizes. |

Rebuilding Together currently has 4 potential projects scheduled for Saturday, October 15th. We ask that you take a look at the following lists of projects and if possible, sign up for one of them.
1) 179 Valiquette Court, Colchester, Vermont The elderly couple living in this home are disabled and living on a fixed income. We have the following jobs in mind: Roofing, window and door installation, yard work, minor painting, ceiling tile installation, yard work, clean-up, etc..
2) 131 Intervale Ave., Burlington, Vermont. The senior living in this home has no heat and the bathroom floor is ready to give way. Plumbing and heating contractors or handymen are strongly encouraged to help with this project. We will also have floor framing work and the installation of fiber reinforced panels on the shower walls.
3) 120 Roberts Park Rd., Huntington, Vermont. A recently widowed senior citizen is living alone in the family home he and his wife shared. He is in need of a new roof. Currently, the roof is leaking inside the home.
4) 62 Avenue C, Burlington, Vermont. A 69 year-old woman who utilizes a walker, needs repairs done to her ramp and stairs. The work includes pressure washing of the deck, step and rail repairs/replacement and lattice installation. The stairs are also treacherously slippery due to a buildup of algae!

Most of our member's businesses, and that probably includes yours, are working harder than ever and some have been forced to think outside the box, to develop new markets, as old market opportunities disappear. We are all looking for new customers. If it's any comfort, we know we're not alone but it should also remind us to think of the other people that are in the same situation. A new contract or the next sale could influence the future of their business too.
Imagine if all of our members agreed that they would buy only from other members. It seems to me that it would create increased prosperity for us all. Whether you need a new deck, a roof, a vehicle, home remodel, car insurance, a new driveway, etc., it's all in your Membership Directory. And it would mean more business for you too.
We've tossed around the "Do Business With A Member" catch phrase long enough. Today there is every reason to give your business to a member. Take a look at your vendor list and move your business from non-members to members. Look in your Membership Directory before you give your business away. Your business could depend on it.
