HARRIS STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING was founded in 2004 by Andrew P. Harris, P.E. Andy and his wife, Rosie, obtained engineering degrees from Columbia University, and together they provide full structural engineering design services to owners, contractors, developers, and architects for commercial and residential projects in Vermont, California, New Hampshire and Oregon. Andy attended Stowe High School and graduated from Rice Memorial. While in college he played football and worked in construction - pouring foundations and framing structures - in Vermont and on the island of Nantucket. After beginning his engineering career in the San Francisco Bay Area, Andy and Rosie returned to Vermont to provide clients with cost-effective, innovative, and practical design solutions with a hands-on understanding of the construction process.

Vermont Concrete Cutting
After the Flood
On May 27, 2011 Vermont Concrete Cutting was flooded - Over 57 inches of water flowed right into our shop and office; most of the vehicles and equipment is ruined beyond repair. Through the help of our dedicated employees and wonderful friends the mess was cleaned up and we were back on our scheduled jobs the following week. As we continue to deal with the devastation we find the silver lining to all this - We have new equipment arriving daily that is ready to go on the job sites.
We would like to thank our loyal customers who have been understanding and welcome new customers to try out our services. We Cut & Core through any depth and Grind concrete to your specifications. A flood will not put this family business "under water" that has been servicing all of VT, NH, NY, MA & ME for over 23 years.

Directive to protect residential
construction workers from falls went
into effect on June 16, 2011.
Starting June 16, residential construction employers will have to provide workers with the conventional fall protection required by the construction fall protection standard, issued in 1994 (29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13)). Falls are the leading cause of death for workers in construction and this directive will provide residential construction workers with greater protection from being injured or killed on the job.

Important Public Hearing Notice
Proposed Adoption of Interim Zoning Bylaws in South Burlington
Date: Monday, July 18
Time & Location: 7 PM, City Hall Conference Rm
(575 Dorset Street, South Burlington)
Purpose: The Bylaw will be to prohibit certain development in the City while the City undertakes studies to evaluate the impacts of such development and determine what, if any, amendments to the Land Development Regulations (LDRs) are appropriate. The proposed bylaw will effect all lands in the City in the manner.
