Are YOU ready for SPRING? |
Is it just me, or was March a whirlwind? By the looks of it, April may be too! Time is flying by!
I must admit, however; that the longer daytime hours and warm sunshine truly make a difference to my day. I feel the desire to be more active and to spend more time outside. The sunrays seem to bring a sense of anticipation of good things yet to come, and don't forget the benefits to your health.
Opinions vary, but the general consensus seems to be that between 5-15 minutes of exposure to sunlight daily is enough to ensure that your Vitamin D levels remain optimal. No doubt our friends who just returned from the Broad Horizons Friend-SHIP Cruise to Curacao, Aruba, Dominica and St. Thomas can tell you all about the benefits sunshine brings! We were glad to hear a great time was had by all!!
And, welcome back to those who just returned from our "Taking a Bite of the Big Apple" tour. Our ladies trotted through Central Park, cruised down the Hudson River and shared lots of laughter as they immersed in the sites and sounds of New York City.
While you were travelling we were busy with trade shows, fundraisers and setting up new and exciting tours for 2011 and 2012.
A special thank you to those of you who visited us at the Women's Lifestyle Show in London. I am always moved by the wonderful businesses, inspiration and camaraderie women generate!
It is my pleasure to announce a Yoga, Fitness and Fun in the Sun Tour for 2012. We're bringing our own yoga/fitness instructor on this fun, fitness get-away. The week will combine daily yoga and fitness programs, with lectures on yoga, fitness, nutrition and more. We have some other fun and exciting group activities with lots of leisure time to dip your toes in the ocean, relax by the pool or simply sit in the Caribbean breeze with a cool drink and a good book. Complete details will be available soon. Be the first to receive the details of this tour by sending us an email at womenrock@broadhorizonsnetwork.com.
Haven't added us as one of your "favourites" online yet? Now is the time, as we have many more exciting tours in 2011 and 2012 and we don't want you to miss out!
I am looking forward to seeing more of you "out and about", now that the weather is cooperating better. I just know it is going to be a wonderful Spring. I can feel it!
Sincerely,
Bonnie Hinschberger

She Sees Southern France, Sept 16 - 28, 2011 |
Southern France. Ahh, it makes me sigh each time I think of it.
Charming villas, delectable fare, picturesque countryside, medieval towns and villages, along with a wine region that compares to none, and a language that rolls off of the tongue with such grace and wonderment. I don't always know what the French are saying, but it always sounds exhilarating to moi.
Southern France (or the South of France), colloquially known as le Midi is the backdrop for majestic scenery, history, culture, gastronomy, wine and chocolate. It was chosen as the setting for the brilliant movie "Chocolat" and what tour to la France would be complete without chocolate!
And, yes, wine! Not only will you have an opportunity to visit the world renowned wine region of St. Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will also taste authentic foie gras (see how it compares) while visiting chateau Monbazillac and sipping on wine, that I assure you will be fantastique!
Southern France is a site to behold. It is an eclectic mix of rich heritage, traditions and culture which boasts architecture equally magnificent and inimitable. Imagine a boat trip on the Dordogne River in Beynac and a walking tour of Toulouse including the majestic Cathedral and Jacobin's Convent. You must truly experience Southern France to appreciate its splendor.
After a spontaneous, but well-thought-out day of exploring with your BH travel buddies, you will return to your luxurious, historical, accommodation where you can prepare for tomorrow's potpourri of exciting events, or rest easy while enjoying the fresh countryside air.
It's not too late to book!

A Taste for Travel in Southern France | |

Bon Voyage!
Each month you can look forward to a delicious recipe derived from one of our featured destinations. This month we are featuring our She Sees Southern France!. Ooh la la.
Entice your taste buds with - Bloc de Foie Gras (pronounced "fwa:'gra" in English)
Foie gras is a popular and well-known delicacy in French cuisine. Its flavor is described as rich, buttery, and delicate, unlike that of a regular duck or goose liver. Foie gras is sold whole, or is prepared into mousse, parfait, or pâté (the lowest quality), and may also be served as an accompaniment to another food item, such as steak. France is the leading producer and consumer of duck and goose foie gras.
There are so many variations of foie gras that I decided to share a recipe that allows you to purchase a "bloc" and add some of your own personal zest to it which is sure to impress your guests. Manifique!
Ingredients : Ingredients: 450 g of foie gras 5 g of salt, 10 g of pepper, 3 big onions peeled and sliced thinly, 1 lump of sugar, Salt and pepper
Directions : Gently place the foie gras in a non-stick frying pan and place on medium heat. Add salt and pepper. Using two spatulas, very delicately turn the liver repeatedly in the frying pan for 25 minutes. With care, remove the foie gras from the frying pan and place it in a terrine, then add some fat from the frying pan. Using a weighted plate, compress the foie gras lightly. Keep the foie gras in the terrine for at least four days in the refrigerator before serving. To make the caramelized onion, mix the thinly sliced onion with a little water and cook on medium heat until onions take on a beautiful brown color.
