From Peru - that is!

 

Without a doubt our Exploration Peru trip in April was one of the best trips I have ever taken!  From the jungles of the Amazon to the high Andean mountains our ladies were fascinated with the experiences along the way. Our guide, whom I had met on a previous visit, was absolutely outstanding, professional and so passionate about showing us his country. 

 

Most memorable was a weaving workshop in a small village which had recently been destroyed by unusually heavy rains and mudslides. The mudslides demolished much of the town including the Women's Weaving Project, their buildings, inventory, looms and business opportunities. 

 

Broad Horizons was the first group to gain access to the village since late January and the weavers were so happy to have us arrive.  The weavers welcomed us with open arms and connected with our women like old friends.  A special bond between the two groups of women was created that day and our women returned with fond memories, new friendships and of course many gorgeous hand-woven pieces. 

Our group of women, known as the "Sunshine Ladies" (as the sun followed us for two weeks straight) returned home with many incredible memories, new friendships and most of all a sense of accomplishment for the amazing experience they had in Peru.
