| 2010 - Your Best Year Yet! |
Happy New Year Ladies!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break! As we enter in a new year, everyone is talking about what they hope to accomplish in 2010. This got us all thinking .......
How to make this your best year yet?
1. Challenge yourself! If there is one thing that invigorated me and made me happiest last year, it was stretching myself to do things I once thought were beyond my limits and capabilities. (i.e. dog sledding!)
2. Find your passion! This is the key to a joyful and meaningful life. The trick is finding yours.
Think, and listen to your inner voice. As we begin a new decade it's the perfect time for a little contemplation. What makes you happy? Do more of it and then figure out how to make that activity a more prominent part of your life.
What women across the country are saying?
Surveys show that "empty nesters" consistently list travel as their passion. Free from the demands of raising children, they have the time to pursue their interest in exploring the world. Not surprisingly, busy moms rate travel as a priority as well. For women with children still at home, travel offers an opportunity for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.
It's no secret that Canadians are among the world's most avid travellers, and according to StatsCan research, our wanderlust is not restricted to a desire for a brief escape from the icy grip of winter. We also travel to learn, grow and renew the bonds of friends and family.
At Broad Horizons we want to inspire you to travel, to enjoy life, and to really live life to the fullest.
In this edition of Fe-mail we feature our Women Wine Down in Tuscany tour. Always a favourite destination, this small group tour of Tuscany is expected to sell out quickly, so we encourage you to book early. Tuscany details

| Tuscany - a "MUST GO" destination ! |
|
Join us for the Tuscan retreat of a lifetime!
North American author Frances Mayes put Tuscany on the top of women's must-go list with her book "Under the Tuscan Sun," inspiring fantasies of following in her footsteps and renovating a crumbling but magnificent villa in the Italian countryside.
Yet while North Americans may know Tuscany best for its enchanting landscapes and country villas, the region has much, much more to offer. During our escorted tour you will adore Tuscany's medieval hilltop villages like Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni and Colle de Val d'Elsa, where you will find local artisans at work in workshops on meandering cobblestone streets.
Our small group tour has a more relaxed tour pace so you can linger in laid-back outdoor cafes in Siena or at the villages' trattorias, filled with warm laughter and the delicious aromas of such local delicacies like ravioli in sage butter sauce. And your wine glass will always be half-full in Tuscany: its exquisite vineyards produce a range of acclaimed wines, from the hearty red Brunellos di Montalcino and Chianti to the citrusy white Vernaccias of San Gimignano. Wine tasting in Tuscany is one of the highlights in our escorted, guided Tuscany tour.
Tuscany isn't just about the quiet country life- the province claims one of the most sophisticated cities in Italy: Florence. This city is home to the Accademia, where you can view some of Michelangelo's classic works, including the Statue of David, as well as the Uffizi Museum, a must-see for art aficionados. Shopping mavens will want to head straight for Florence's trademark leather and gold shops. Florence is a city we truly love and we guarantee it will surely become your favourite as well.
We have carefully considered and planned each day to include all the best that this region has to offer. Join us for the Tuscan retreat of a lifetime!

Airplane Stretches
If you're self conscious about doing these stretches in your seat and worry that passengers around you may stare or think you're weird, then do them in the bathroom.
Shoulder Shrug: Lift the top of your shoulders toward your ears until you feel mild tension in your shoulders and your neck. Hold your shoulders raised to your ears for five seconds then relax and resume your normal posture. Do this 2-3 times every two hours.
Head roll: Begin with your head in a comfortable, aligned position. Then slowly tilt your head to the left side to stretch the muscles on the side of your neck. Hold this stretch for 10-20 seconds. You should feel a good, even stretch. Don't over do it! Then tilt your head to the right side and stretch. Repeat this exercise 2-3 times on each side. Ankle twist: Point your toes and hold the stretch for five seconds, then stretch your feet up and back toward your knees and hold this position for five seconds. Next rotate your foot to the left, hold five seconds, and to the right and hold for five seconds. Repeat several times. |
| Final thoughts... |
Carpe Diem - Seize the day!
This week I read a thought-provoking article that seemed to be a perfect fit for the theme of this edition of Fe-mail.
The story begins with Charyn Pfeuffer - a freelance travel writer who will depart on June 2010 and travel to 12 countries over the course of 12 months, volunteering with 12 community projects. (Global Citizen Project)
This prolific travel writer has contributed to more than 80 publications in her career spanning 12 years. Not only is she planning to take a break from writing assignments, but she's embarking on this year of travel to honor her mom, who passed away from lung cancer 20 years ago.
With her mother's passing Charyn gained valuable insight that would shape her own life.
In her own words, Charyn writes:
"In 1990, exactly two weeks before my mother's passing, she disclosed a very short list of end-of-life regrets, including: 'I never went to Europe.' Her words, now my raison d'être, have inspired me to live life fully, spontaneously and with purpose. Okay, maybe it's also been influenced by some strong-willed Taurus tendencies (the blessing and burden of sharing a birthday with Earth Day), but regardless, I've made deliberate choices to live a life of travel."
I think we all know people who wish they had experienced more in life. Looking back their story is the same; they wish they had embraced opportunities more often. Without a doubt Carpe Diem (seize the day) are words to live by. As we begin a new decade, I encourage you to live your best, healthiest and most positive year yet. With this in mind I'll leave you with the last verse of one of my favourite songs - Flying On Your Own - by Rita MacNeil.
And when you know the wings you ride Can keep you in the sky There isn't anyone holding back you First you stumble, then you fall You reach out and you fly There isn't anything that you can't do!
In closing, I invite you to join us for a fun-filled Broad Horizons tour in 2010. Make this year one to remember by experiencing the wonderful world of travel! We look forward to welcoming you onboard!
