"Valerie Garfield had a vision 18 years ago that someday - she wasn't sure when - she would own the house one door away from her mother's on South 46th Street. That dream became a reality on January 30th. The house, which she had been renting for several years, was hers at last..."

Look out for our transit ads affectionately depicting a piggy in a hard hat! The spring campaign, run by UAC's Community & Economic Development (CED) department, promotes PHIL-Plus and Mini-PHIL, loans for homeowners with less than perfect credit. The loans can be used for home repairs, energy-related improvements, or to consolidate debt.
UAC worked with the City of Philadelphia and community lenders to offer this much needed program. Mini-PHIL loans are offered up to $10,000 and are best for basic home repairs. PHIL-Plus loans can be up to $25,000 for homeowners who have larger projects, such as remodeling. Up to half of the loan can be used to pay off existing debt.
