Priorities: News from Urban Affairs Coalition

Helping Families Build Wealth

Each year, UAC program partner, The Campaign for Working Families, operates free tax sites throughout the city to assist low- to moderate-income families in preparing their taxes. But, the Campaign also helps families save for their futures. To-date, 584 customers have invested over $68,000 of their tax refunds in U.S. Savings Bonds.

The Campaign has also helped over 300 customers avoid check cashing fees by using prepaid debit cards; and assisted customers in completing 118 Federal Applications for Federal Student Aide (FAFSA), so they can access much needed funds for higher education.

Finally, The Campaign has referred over 700 customers to community partners such as the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger and the Utility Emergency Services Fund, for services when needed.
