Greetings!
Has your customer's technology changed with the times or are they still using outdated technology and methods to secure their network and data and improve their network performance? If they are using outdated technology, then they are not protecting their network and data properly against the more technologically advanced threats.
When we say outdated, we are talking about any firewall model that has been discontinued such as SonicWALL's TZ 150, 170, 180, & 190 and older models or WatchGuard's Firebox X e-series and older models.
We can assist you with updating your customer's firewall, data protection, anti-virus/anti-spyware software, WAN performance, and more.
In this newsletter you will find a few ways to improve your customer's network and data security and the performance of their network and maybe even their employees.
We hope you enjoy the reading! |

What's New in WatchGuard's XTM 11.4
Can your customer's firewall . . .
- Decide who, what, when, where, why and how applications are used on their network?
- Exercise fine-grained control over more than 1,500 applications, organized by category?
- Let you drill down from application category (i.e. Instant Messaging) to application name (i.e. MSN, IM) and down to application funtion (i.e. file transfer)?
- Scan traffic on ALL ports using Enhanced IPS?
- Easily revert to an earlier configuration when you need to?
- Create security policies based on users and groups (Not IP addresses)?
- If wireless, scan for unauthorized access points within range and report on them?
- Do active/passive firecluster configuration in Drop-in Mode?
- Block known bad internet links out in the cloud instead of processing them at the firewall and using up processor resources?
- Take advantage of multi-core processors?
If they have an earlier WatchGuard model (i.e. Firebox X e-series or earlier) then they are missing out on faster processor speed, more advanced security features to deal with the advanced security threats of today, and more.
When WatchGuard came out with the XTM series of firewalls, they created the 11.x operating system. This new operating system is able to take advantage of the new security features that the previous firewall models cannot take advantage of. These new security features are:
WatchGuard raised the bar in regards to firewalls.
And now, with their new 11.4 OS, WatchGuard raises the bar even higher with:

Significantly Enhance WAN Performance and User Experience with WAN Acceleration Technology!
Reduce Interoffice Traffic by up to 95%
In today's distributed enterprise, applications such as Microsoft® SharePoint and Windows® File Share transmit an increasing number of files and data sets over Wide Area Networks (WANs), overburdening available WAN bandwidth.
To make matters worse, these collaboration applications can inefficiently retransmit entire files (rather than just incremental changes) multiple times, unnecessarily increasing WAN traffic.
IT often responds by expanding budget on more bandwidth or enhanced services. But that is not always the best answer . . . not with today's technology.
SonicWALL has introduced an alternative . . . WAN acceleration technology which can resolve the problem by allowing more efficient utilization of the existing network bandwidth.
Using SonicWALL's new WXA (WAN Acceleration Appliance) series you can reduce application latency and conserve bandwidth, significantly enhancing WAN application performance and improving the end user experience for small- to medium-sized organizations with remote and branch offices.
After initial data transfer, the WXA Series dramatically reduces all subsequent traffic by transmitting only new or changed data across the network.
Deployed in conjunction with a SonicWALL E-Class Network Security Appliance (NSA), NSA or TZ Unified Threat Management (NGFW) Firewall and Application Intelligence and Control Service, the WXA offers the unique combined benefit of prioritizing application traffic and minimizing it between sites, resulting in optimal network performance.

Securing Your Customer's Network Against the Escalating Malware Threat Landscape!
The escalating threat landscape and the need to protect an increasing complex environment are causing real problems for IT organizations across the board. Cybercriminal expansion is leveraging every possible vector today to spread malicious content: email, web content, social media, 3rd party application vulnerabilities, among many others.
As a result, companies must consider all threat vectors and provide real protection at every layer of the enterprise. But the reality is that a layered malware protection strategy is rarely considered or the idea is ignored all together. Many companies today consider their firewall with some sort of security suite to be enough. Others think they only need desktop/server protection and nothing on their firewall, at the gateway. For many malware protection is simply a commoditized purchase, a security technology required for compliance purposes and, at best, procured for the lowest possible price.
What they don't realize are the costs associated with having their network compromised or their data stolen. If their network is compromised through a layer they didn't have protected they can be hit with the costs of cleaning up their network, the loss of valuable data and recovering it if possible, potential fines for not being in compliance with the various data protection regulations for their industry, potential lawsuits if confidential employee or customer information is stolen, loss of business when the word gets out or from having their network down, and the downtime of their network and employees while you get it squared away. For you it could mean not only the potential loss of a customer but involvement in any legal matters regarding the breach. Any one of these costs are much greater than the costs of effectively protecting their network, data, and business!
With that said, in order to keep cybercrime at bay it requires vigilance at every layer, not simply at the endpoint or the perimeter. And to master that vigilence, it requires an effective multi-layered protection system that will seemlessly intergrate with all layers of their network.
The chart below illustrates the increased protection created by a layered malware protection strategy.

The question then is, "What is the best approach to deliver layered security throughout their organization effectively?"
Loosely integrated layered security components create a disadvantage from the start. Solutions like these limit your visibility of the malware risks across the entire enterprise, making protection more difficult to manage and, ultimately, even more difficult to respond rapidly to threats as they appear. It makes it even more difficult as your customer has employees using smart phones that connect into the network. Along with MACs, smartphones, due to being mini-computers where people store and use to transmit all sorts of confidential information, have become the next great frontier for cybercriminals to exploit. If you customers have integrated these into their network then it is imperative you also make sure they are protected as well. Yes, that's right. Though not as vulnerable as PCs running Windows, MACs are vulnerable to cybercrime and other threats. You still need to protect them.
Because of the many possibilities that exist today and will develop in the future, that is why it is important to have a multi-layered protection system in place that integrates seamlessly to protect all layers of your customer's network that may exist . . . from the endpoint layer to the file server layer to the mail server layer to gateway layer to the mobile layer to the cloud layer . . . and at the same time provides the greatest value for each dollar spent.
That is why we highly suggest that you should consider Kaspersky's solutions to protect your customer's network and data. Not only is it best-of-breed, but they have won many awards with their solutions and you can be assured the best possible protection at every layer of your customer's enterprise.

Thank you for considering us for your technology needs and reading our newsletter.
We are here to assist you in meeting your technology needs. Our sales people are trained in the primary brands we promote so they can make sure you are getting the right solution for your customer's network and data security needs at the best value possible. And if we don't know the answer, we will get the answer for you or use our excellent relationship with our vendors to set up a conference call with the manufacturer for you so you can speak with them directly.
And when it comes to making sure you get the best value possible for what you are purchasing, we are the best at it. Why? Because instead of just processing your order, if we see that there is a better value for what you are wanting (i.e. promotion, less expensive route to get the same thing, more for the same money, & etc.) we will let you know before processing the order to make sure you are aware of the extra value you can receive. How many other vendors do that for you? Or do they just process your order as is or sell you what you are asking for and not do what is right or best for you?
We do our best to look out for our customers so they will continue to come back to us time and time again. That's the kind of vendor you want, isn't it?
Amazing Success to You and Your Organization!
