A Second Wind DreamŪ is when a group of visionary believers enable an elder to awaken their dreams, often hidden or forgotten that when fulfilled renews hope and champions further dreaming.   Second Wind DreamsŪ works with communities around the world  to discover and fulfill those dreams!

Chef Tess
Featured Dream of the Week
This week's featured dream comes from Penacook Place in Haverstock, Massachusetts.

Theresa "Tess" Demers was the quintessential Italian cook at home. In fact, as one family member put it, "That was one of her number one jobs - to make sure everyone was well fed - whether they were family members, friends, or guests". While chatting with nurse Maritza Calderon, Tess mentioned that she dreamed of being able to make one of her classics, "pasta fagioli" once again for her family to enjoy. image
Since her other passion was watching cooking shows on television, the Dream Team at Penacook Place realized there would be a wonderful opportunity to combine two of Tess's passions. Fortunately, chef, Travis Brown, from an award-winning local restaurant, Olivia's, was more then willing to help make Tess's dream come true. He brought all the supplies and equipment, along with a great sense of enthusiasm.   On February 17th, the two "chefs", each in their own chef's attire, collaborated to make a very aromatic and delicious pasta fagioli feast. Tess and members of her family were able to enjoy a meal that was made even more complete with the addition of a fabulous antipasto salad created by Alysia Gomez, registered dietitian at Penacook Place. Guests were able to toast the two chefs with a glass of red wine and then finish off the meal with Italian cono1lis and a slice of Italian Rum cake.

Be sure and submit your dreams each week!  We will choose a dream each week that will be featured on our homepage and on our social networking sites along with right here in our E-Blast!  Show others the great work you are doing out there!

Dreams submitted for "Dream of the Week" must be accompanied by a dream outcome form or posted online through the e-dreams network.  You can submit dream outcome forms via email to our membership director or our dreams advocacy specialist.

We can't wait to see what you are up to!

Biltmore House
Royal Getaway Dream for Barbara, 75
Ms. Barbara and her husband retired to Elmcroft a few years ago. Her mother was also a resident in our facility. They did alot of traveling but she always wanted him to take her to see a castle. Due to a rapid decline in his health, he was unable to take her. After his passing, Ms.Barbara said she never thought she would get the chance until she heard of second wind dreams. Even when she approached me about this dream, she had already done her research and found a castle in Ashville North Carolina. I am working very hard to fulfill this dream for her because not only is she a great spokesperson for Elmcroft but after all she has been through with her spinal surgeries and tumors she continues to have a positive attitude and a great spirit!!!!!!!  Click Here to support this E-Dream!
gardenia
Flowers for Connie

Connie's husband would bring her Gardenias and Roses. Connie would keep them as long as she could. She loved the smell that both of these wonderful flowers gave off in the room.

Since Connie will be turning 90, her dream is to receive a bouquet each month for the year.

This dream is nearly fully funded!  Each month was posted as a separate month which allowed donors to choose a month to donate a bouquet.  By choosing an "in-kind" donation, the donor can use their own florist or perhaps even deliver the flowers in person!  What a great way to make a dream come true!
